Verizon is offering 20 Mbps symmetrical service for current FiOS customers in NY, CT, and NJ. It will cost $65 a month.

Take that you upstream limiting bitch ass "broadband" providers... Yea, I'm talking to you (Insert any Telco Company Name Here) DSL and you (Insert any Cable Company Name Here) Cable Internet Provider!

FiOS now has more than half a million subscribers. How many of them actually need a 20Mbps upstream connection remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that the cool factor here is off the charts; we're confident1 that "Hey baby, want to head back to my place to see to me stream high-def video from my Mac?" will soon be the hot new pickup line at NYC nightclubs.

Oh man, that's it.... My next house is going to be in a FIOS area or I may have to file for divorce...... Then again, if I get that kind of bandwidth, she'll probably leave me (sitting at the computer) anyway...... 😈

Shoot I'd even settle for a 5/5.

The biggest difference that I have noticed with FIOS is that my latencies are way down. Sure my download speeds increased over the 1.5 mb DSL that I had before, but FIOS literally halved my latencies as well. I have definitely noticed the difference in that for gaming.

yeah it's amazing.. though I have to say there is very few things that can meet that speed on the other end. My 5/2 is almost always cappped on the other end.

Speaking of bandwidth. As I sit here typing I am downloading an AVG update on a laptop that I just installed a USB modem in. The lady who owns it just uses dial up. Man is it S L O W!!!! it is gettig 4.4kb/s!

Wow and to think we were happy when 56K came out. Hell I remember 300 baud and when 2400 came out, WOW was that cool The I remember using two 56K modems on two phone lines that threaded the DL-s.

Man times have changed now being at 15/2 FIOS 🙂 LIFE is GOOD!
