The notes from Intel that I read said along the lines... OK, you have the alogrithm, but you will need to create burned chips to make it useful, good luck.
I can't wait to see how this plays out. I want to see it fail. I freaking hate the fact that my damn tv, cables, and peripherals have DRM in them. Before switching to HDMI stuff, things worked smooth. Now, when I change channels, there are delays. I guarantee you it's DRM's fault.
In their war against the few, the casualties are the many. They're so desparate to stop a few criminals that they must impose colossal inconveniences upon the rest of us. For anyone who's had to buy an HDMI cable or DVI/HDMI converter, the price certainly is colossal. Thanks to them $1.99 video/audio cables are a thing of the past.
Example: I bought a 720P upconvert DVD player on sale for $40 a couple of years ago. When I asked how much additional an HDMI cable and DVI-HDMI converter was, they said $80 for both... twice the cost of the friggin' DVD player!!! At least I was able to order cable with a built-in adapter from NewEgg for much less.
Yeah, this means they'll probably chose now to break out 1920P or something.
