Interesting BF2 Tweak

    I was talking to some guys on another site and they made this suggestion to improve map load times on BF2.

    Also try setting your virus scanner not to auto-protect your bf2 data directory.


    I am going to give that a shot. However, I had never heard that until now. Anyone else do something like this?

    I could see that making some difference, but I can't see it making more than a few ms's worth. You think at most protected, your scanner will check each new file to enter it's domain. But I don't think any check files that you are creating, assuming BF2 makes some temp files when it runs.

    When you connect to a server, that servers/clan photo is places in the

    C:Documents and SettingsIdahoMy DocumentsBattlefield 2LogoCache

    location, malicious content CAN AND DOES get downloaded there, if your protection is down, your flagged by players using radar hacks.


    If they can place that on your machine, then other malicious content can be added also.[color=cyan][/color]

    I disable my virus scanner when I am going to play BF of any flavor. I recently switched from McAfee (Rat Bastards) to Avast which seems to be less resource intensive and overall easier to disable.
