    I'm really routing for this mission to be a success. Traditional combustion based propulsion just isn't feasible for deep space exploration. Using velocity gained from slingshot maneuvers is also pretty limiting. The fact that these guys can hit a target the equivalent of something the size of pin head with something the size of this . from unimaginable distances just makes my geek heart go all a flutter.

    I'm also in awe of the mission scientists who can spend their entire professional career on one project with just a slim chance their project will be launched, hit it's objective and return some kind of meaningful data. Those guys don't get near enough credit. I wonder if they'll be remembered by history a long time from now.

    A friend of mine is an EE down in DC and worked on the Pluto probe that was just launched. he wrote the software for it I believe. Cool stuff indeed.

    Do NOT get me started on how big space is... It boggles my mind. 🙂

    Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
