IP upload

    Hey guys
    Busy busy!!
    I have a sever that I need to set up so I can have people upload files to. It's for a shop I'm doing side work for and the files are generally to big to email (solid models) so I want to set up access for customer to be able to upload files to it for quote and build purposes. I have no clue where to begin except call the sevice dept.! The site is through 1&1. Is there a program or a page I can build into the site to allow uploads?

    For a page I'd like it to be something like angelfire does. (if yur familiar with that, Attachment ). Where there is a page that you log into with a box and a button for file selection to up.
    Any help appreciated.

    If you use firefox the video doesn't work so use IE. Actually a cool video of one of the most advanced CNC machine out today.

    WOW COOL!!! I LOVE machines like that. How many of these babies do these guys have/use? I bet that is VERY expensive. Very cool how it has all the various bits/cutting heads all built in. That is awesome. I really should have been an engineer!
    Anyway...

    Is FTP out of the question??
    Secure FTP clients are free. (as well as unsecured.)
    It is easier to use FTP to add files then just link them from the web page if need be. I would suggest FTP for both ways..

    ...BUT

    Let me guess though, FTP is too hard to use???
    The shop is full of clueless people that never heard of FTP and would not have any idea what to do so you HAVE to make it web based??
    😉 I am kidding …
    I understand it is easier to UL from the web.

    If this is the case then you need to go perl/CGI, Java, flash or php off hand.
    I am sure there are many other ways(probably eaiser) to do it but here is one thing anyway.

    Twiki is perl 5 and cgi based so should be very easy to include in yoru web server.

    I have not had a chance to really play with this but it requires some installation to your web server but should not be too bad. Once installed it adds a lot of functionality.

    $1/4 mil used.

    No FTP is not out of the question but I don't want everyone to have access to the web pages.

    I'm trying to get more work for his shop so I can program that machine full time. If all goes well he plans on buying another one.

    That is frekin cool as hell. I LOVE stuff like that, i really do. I would love that job 😉

    First thing I would do is....
