Hey guys as you all probably know, in addition to being a map guy I am also an IT guy. That said, this week was Linux World Boston conference. I attended Linux world in Boston last year and found the conference to be quite fruitful and re-excited me about OSS and Linux.
This year I decided to go again. I typically go for one day and do a vendors only pass to see what's happening and what the buzz is. To start when I showed up on tuesday I showed up to this : http://os.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=06/...169215&from=rss
after finally getting into the building I checked out the many vendors and collected all the great schwag. I was surprized to learn that the mozilla project wasn't in attendence. I saw 2 different people from MS there (not exhibitors, but people who's name tags I saw). I didn't see a whole lot out there that was very exciting. The largest display was from Palmsource, a company I dispise since buying a Palm last year (addicted to the PDA, hate the OS). And last thing of note: it seems maybe the linux world conference is going the way that E3 is diverging from, there seemed to be more and more "booth babes" not that they were in skimpy clothing or costumes. But lets just say the proportion of cute girls at booths vs cute girls in audience was 30:1.
