No CD error? Pleese help.

I finally got all my new hardware installed and working.

But I installed BFV and every time I try and start the game it says No CD/ Please insert Disk blah blah. And the CD IS IN!!!

Ive re-installed 5 times now, with no luck at all. I found one reply to this same problem at PBF and all dude said was to restart (Which didnt work) and there was no more disscusion.

I got it to run using a NO CD crack, but it was for 1.0 only, so I cant use that. And im not sure how PBuster would react to a crack like that anyway.


:Things Ive tried:

Fresh install w/ restart, no patch and w/ patch.

After installing tried to start the game with each differant CD.

Used REG Clean, then reinstalled.

None have worked. Pleeeeese help if you can.

I know this is very basic, but I had similar troubles and never thoguht to check these things. Do other cds work fine? And is the CD clean, it seems the EA cds are not readable with even the smallest amount of dust/dirt on them. I had one that wouldn't read, I installed a different rom and still nothjing. I tried everything, then I washed the sucker off and it has work fine since. Just a thought.

That or whoever sent you that drive sent you a bum drive. Switch yours with Scotts when he's not looking. ;-)

What drive letter is yur cd under?
It's probably working fine but just can't find it!
Try starting w/ different disks ie disk#2, 3 or 4.
I know on my machine it starts with any disk!
Last if you have the space try the hard disk image start, again here you can use any of the cd's as your image.
(the no cd start that i've brought up in here a couple times)
I use disk 4 on my work comp. as it is smaller than the others.

from the begining

On the first install of windows. I used Bubbas drive through the whole install without a 2ndary drive at that time. And when windows finished it didnt show up. it showed in Bios but not in windows.

So I Formatted and reinstalled everything again with 2 CD drives hooked up. Everything showed up this time, buit then after installing Norton, My Mother board, and my Video card, It suddenly dissapeared from windows and hasnt came back. WTF

The secondary drive remained, I installed BF-1942 and it worked fine.

Installed BFV and No CD Error again!!!!

I cleaned it and tried all 3 CDs. No Luck whatsoever.

Hymen we need to get on TS and get me hooked up and running Daemon tools/Alcohol. Gimme a time and Ill be there.

And just to direct everyones brains back to the Dissapearing CD drive problem, Ill say WTF????? again.

Im getting No love from the new PC.

are you running w2k?? I had the same problem with 2k, but being about 4 years back, I don't remember how I solved it. Have you updated the drivers fro the MB? I know Via chipsets have the 4in1 drivers. I am thinking an update of the ide and bus masters will solve this problem.
