OK in typical "me" style of engaging my brain 7 months after I do something I think is Uber..... turns out to be a bomb.....

I picked up an application called Protected Folder that allows a user to specify if a file or folder is accessible - been using it on my USB drive to "protect" my work expense reports and electronic pay stubs etc etc etc......

I typically use my desk top for accessing my USB drive, so that is where the Protect Folder software resides..... and it hit me this morning, are the folders invisible from a different PC?
So I plug the USB drive in to the lap top and other desk top..... guess what? - F A I L
Open for everyone to see and access....... [Face palm]

So the software only protects from the installed PC not the rest of the world.......

Anyone know of an application that truly protects folders like I want?

Have you tried the build in security permissions on windows, remove all access rights except for your log-in. It is a small layer of block. As for software solutions, depending on your needs.

If you want to only access it from your own computers than TrueCrypt may be the way for you. If you want to be able to access it anywhere with the appropriate key, and different levels of security if you forget said key [phone number shown for contact, shreds encrypted files] there is USB Safeguard, and then there is WinPT which is a free portable encrypter.
