No matter what game I play now or in the past year (or so) ET QW - BF2 - 2142 - COD4 Punkbuster B dumps me for 0 minutes for lack of heart beat violation.
I've updated PB, I've manually added the HTML files in to each games PB folder, I've downloaded and run the configure/update application, but still get kicked for loss of heart beat.
(OK Bubba... insert your brain droppings here > > > > )
Thing is it's a random kicking, some times it will be days - some times I can't stay connected to servers. It appears to lose it's heart beat the closer I am in to the action. If there is a melee far off and I'm sniping or running a rocket launcher - no issues. If I'm in the fur ball and jumping or reloading or switching weapons the chance is great that I'm getting the boot.
Dropped 3 service tickets to Even balance but they have never replied.
On the Punkbusted forums, one guy said that his Hearbeat problem stemmed from an external drive that would shut off during play. Maybe PB sees this as a potential hack? Another guy updated hid video drivers and it fixed the issue. He also went to DX10. Both of these were with America's Army btw...
you might also check your packet flow to make sure you aren't getting dropped packets at the times you are getting kicked.

Could someone else be hogging your bandwidth?
Thanks Bubb. I'll open those ports. Sarge - Good to know I have two 750GB external drives (which are usually on) attached to the PC. No one is tied on to the router (hard wired not wireless) but my PC and my IP phone (which may be an issue also) - but I have had the IP phone longer (by 5 years) then the PB-B issue.
Just a thought here, are you possibly running the same game on two different machines? PB may be feeding back certain info with the screenshots that suggest differences that doesn't make sense to it.
Punkbuster B was what was giving us all such fits last weekend, wasn't it? Didn't we decide it was because we had all manually upgraded Punkbuster, but the server wasn't up-to-date? I can't remember for sure now. . .
@ lexx - I do have it installed on my lap top also - but it is/was not on when this happens.
@ DocJon - Very Good point - now that I think of it, it does happen on my most commonly played ET QW servers whil it happens seldom on servers I just jump on to for pubbing.
That may be the key - I was thinking it was me out of date but it could very well be the server out of date.... hmmmmm...... I'll check that out today (while I'm at work Atomm - playing - ignoring customers..) if I get dumped for a favorite I'll move to different servers and see, if not I'll go back to teh favorite that dumped me and see if it returns.
I am having the same problem. Punkbuster A and B run as services so make sure they are both on. B not be on until you actually run a game.
I thought that solved my problem but was again having this same issue with CoD4 the other night. I checked my firewall settings. I still have to look into it.
