Putting off-brand inkjet ink to the test

Someone put 4 off-brands up against the printer maker's brand and reviewed them immediately, at three months, and a year. Short answer: "Cartridge World" ink comes out the next best to, and sometimes even as good as, the recommended brand.

I'm not surprised. Ink jet ink is the biggest scam out there.

I thought it was the 3rd biggest scam out there behind OPEC and those companies that sell bottled water. 😛

Seriously, I stop putting colored ink in my printer. I have to select greyscale every time I print and it still squawks from time to time about empty ink wells, but I haven't had to waste money on colored ink.

You think ink's expensive now. Xerox has found a way to make ink disappear from paper, so you can reuse paper, rather than throwing it away. I love that idea. I don't like the next part of the article where they talk about Xerox creating the printer to use the ink.

Bah! Bah I say! REUSE paper? If that paper got handled very much, the printer isn't gonna like seeing it a second time.

Here's a how-to make your own invisible ink cartridge. I didn't bother reading it, as I don't foresee needing it, EVER. Still, if someone wants to play, I recommend they do it with a cartridge that has it's own print head built in. If something goes wrong, you toss the cartridge and get a new print head with the new one. . .no big deal.
