    *GASP*

As you know my work desk top that I've had for at least 6 years is starting to die every 3 ~ 6 months and needs reformatting and new parts here and there to keep alive.

Well I got the OK to put the rec in for a new pc, I took each highest required spec from each category of SW I use to outline the HW for then requisition.

(shoot high and accept mid level - is the best I was hoping for)

OMG - Look at the card they are supplying with the PC

    http://store.nvidia.com/servlet/Controller...uctID=67049700#

The typical company PC purchase is not to exceed $2000 - the freaking card is $3,000 it self *gasp* Then the VP of IT asks me - you think this will do for the next 3 years?
There getting no questions asked Dell on site for me here in Idaho also.

    WAAA HAAAA HAAAAA

    4 - 1.5 Tb hd's in dual raid config.

    But am I screwed?
This is obviously a smoking card, but an industrial one. 3d modeling, CAD, etc....

    Although it does say
Next-Generation Vertex and Pixel Programmability Shader Model 4.0
Reference standard for shader model 4.0 enabling a higher level of performance and ultra-realistic effects for next generation OpenGL and DirectX 10 industry-leading professional applications.

Maybe it will understand game code....
It would suck to have such a good card and not be dumb enough to run a game.....

    - please excuse me - I need to go change my shorts.......

It'll be fine, though it can handle the constant barrage of a CAD or visual 3D package.

When I order a machine for work for myself, I tend to buy a gaming rig so it can handle my visual and visual 3D software.

Is all I can say - I've never been able to crank all settings to maximum add full anti-aliasing and all other bits and pieces cranked up to the stars.....

    No issues with any games.

WoW! Cool..... I didn't think those cards handled Direct X games well, but sounds like it's kicking ass.

    Congrats!

Yah that was my one worry - it being too smart to run games, but it's a DX10 card and runs just fine.
