I am having some seriously strange issues concerning my mouses. One is crappy, and the other is expensive, but both are not working. They will lock up when i am moving, like the arrow has hit a wall. Even on my desktop, when i move the arrow it moves for a sec. then just stops, even though im still moving the mouse. The crappy has a ps2 port, and the Razor uses usb. Ive tried 4 differant mouse pads, and it does it on everything. What kind of problem would cause this?? Please help.
This is seriously crammping my game. For those who played Friday, Im sure you noticed my change in score when I played on Scott's PC.

If you dont have a clue what it could be, ask more people please.

My first guess would be that it is a driver or driver conflict issue. Don't how how comfortable you are with messing with your hardware, but start with this. If you need more, i'm sure we can step you through it in more detail.

Start by removing all instances of mice via the control panel device manager. Try doing this in windows "safe mode" - it will likely show multiple mice installed as it tracks each time you do an installation.
after that run a registry cleaner (I use regcleaner) to make sure that your registry is cleaned of all drivers and other leftovers from the mice.
Try reinstalling your razor using the latest drivers after that and see if the issue is resolved.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more.

And you say your not a techy! Even I didn't know about safe mode showing multiple driver versions. This might be good for the guys who installed ATI video cards over Nvidia cards. If nothing else, it might allow them to clean everything out.

    All I will say is
Bah, My tech tips spread on the internet!! Now I will never get paid again!!

Seriously though, Sarge brings up some good points, I am not sure you will see multiple installations of a mouse in that little safe mode trick though. But in any case, are these mouses with balls(male :-) sorry had to do it) or are they optical mouses(female, not sure quite how this one works)? If they are not optical, check to see that the rollers for the ball are not all cluttered with lint. Also on your USB mouse make sure it's plugged into one of the main USB ports, I.e. sometimes if you have a port built onto your motherboard in the back next to you ps/2 ports these will work better than one that is from a header (i.e. front mounts). Also try updating any drivers/firmware for your motherboard. Let us know what happens. I have lots more suggestions, but my poor fingers are getting too tired and I won't be able to kill commies if I continue to type at this rate.

Get back to work Bubba! No browsing forums during work hours!

Yes they both have balls. lol But get this, I cleaned only one mouse (the Razor), and now they both work?!?! This was about a half an hour after playing BF, but then I started playing again, and it happened again!!!!!!
So this adds alot to the craziness.

This has caused me to go a little bit crazier than I already was, and I feel sorry for those I play when I get this fixed.

Did this start when you got the new mouse?
Are you leaving them both plugged in at the same time?
Does this problem happen anywhere else besides BF?
    Blondes or Brunettes?

    1. No, thats why I bought the new mouse.

    2. yes, and no

    3. Not really, the problem remained for about half an hour after playing, on desktop movment, but besides that its mainly when im playing.

    4. As long as they are not bald im cool.

This is going to sound strange, but what sound card do you have? Are the drivers up to date?

Alrighty, here is what I see.

The fact that this happens sometimes after battlefield for a short period of time, but beyond that only in battlefield suggests to me that it's an issue with battle field and one of your drivers. Basically it takes you computer some time to work back to it's normal being after battlefield changes some setting to work for it. My other guess is that you are using mouses that are not "standard" so to speak, my guess is if you bought a $10 logitech or $10 MS mouse you would instantly be fine. Chances are you are using a mouse that has some sort of driver issues with battledfield and they never thought to test that particular mouse. Here would be my course of action.

1.) make sure you have the most up to date version of Direct X
    2.) Update Motherboard drivers.
    3.) Use default mouse drivers.
4.) Maybe email EA support and ask specifically about your mouse.
5.) try logitech or ms mouse.

My last question for you is, does this happen in both battlefields, and if so, how did you kill me so much with a broken mouse??

p.s. sarge, I am not not posting at work. ;-) you're the one who got me addicted to BF

Yes both Battle Fields do it, and occasionally when Im drawing/ mapping/ etc..

As for the kills  Just wait till I get it fixed.

These are some good things to try, and I will try them. Especially emailing EA about the Razor mouse. Im getting a new Harddrive soon, so I will be reinstalling everything. Im gonna put Games and windows on 1 HD, and everything else on the 2nd. This will help preformance problems.

Side Note: My friend formatted then reinstalled windows, and put Nam on their first. He said it runs a helluva lot better. But that is alot of effort to format.

Another trick is to put your swap file on both drives. It may help speed things up. As for speeding things up, ever since I loaded the last batch of custom maps, BFV is loading maps like my old system. I considering reloading everything again myself. I hate not being in the first 3 in a maps.

I hope it works out LoU.

Format and reinstall is nice to do, always good to have a newer copy of windows. I reformat mine every 3 mos or so, When I do a good job I can backup, format and reinstall in less then 3 hours. But I have been doing this for more years then I can count on my fingers. Also have my stuff well organized. In any case let us know what happens.
