omg omg omg!!! i can't play like this... I just reformatted after having a problem with TS not popping up when i ran it. Anyway....
Now, Noone can hear me transmit if my microphone in PLAY CONTROL is muted. That's all fine and dandy but if I don't mute it, I can hear myself talk too and even me clicking my mouse.... it's starting to get on my nerves. I have mic checked in recording options and I've tried both wave and ds in TS.
SB LIVE! just installed new drivers 2 days ago. HELP MEH!!! I wish not to miss out on the taggin and baggin due to a pita mic.
Maybe someone who isn't having a problem can post their TS settings here as a reference. When I get home tonight I will do this if someone hasn't already.
Under Settings, options, Sound Devices tab I have Direct Sound for the Sound Driver, Compatiblility NOT checked, Direcct Sound Buffer Size in the middle, Devices for Input and Output Device I have Primary Sound Capture Driver
Under Settings, Sound Input/Output I have Output Vol. at normal, Voice Send Mehod set with the Insert key.
Thanks Goose. The one other setting that I have is that on my mixer for my audio drivers, I have the microphone active for record and muted for volume.
I had to play with my settings until I figured it out. Do you have a Live Drive? Is the mic plugged in there? If so, remember, it's mic 2. That was my problem.
I have my microphone selected for record and muted for playback. That seemed to do the trick.
Live drive? I don't think so. I just have a basic SB Live! sound card with latest drivers. I have my mic plugged into the only mic port I have. Once again, if I mute the mic in PLAY BACK under windows settings, noone can hear me. However, if I unmute it, people can hear me normally, but I can also hear myself (not an echo, but like i'm just talking in the mic to myself....like talking on a phone)
I've had this problem before I think but I can't remember how i fixed it.
I've tried every setting in TS that i can think of. I know its not a TS problem. I broke out the windows recorder and tried to record with the play back on mute and it didn't work either....it is some setting in windows or sb...hope that helps. I forgot to mention it last time.
I remember having a similar problem. Are you using onboard sound or a soundboard? All I remember doing ininstalling and reinstalling my sound card once or twice. It seemed to work after that.
I didn't know sb live was put on motherboards. I"m thinkin about just getting a new sound card anyway. I've had this one for about 4 years and it's probably creating a mean bottleneck and sapping some memory. Anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive card?
I still use my onboard sound on the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe... 5.1 amazing sound out of it... But when I buy sound cards, I only go with SB... I am really supprised you are having these issues with yours...
When I built my machine my onboard sound was great, then I let windows update the sound drivers... Totally screwed my sound. So I rolled back the drivers and everything started working again. Sometimes the latest drivers are not always the best.
I helped him out with it, it was really wierd. TS sees both sound boards/ drivers in the input-output settings. Even though Baz had his mic and headphones plugged into the soundcard. I set the mic input to the motherboard sound driver and the output from the SB card. Seemed to work. Defies all logic, but that's windows for ya.
