Web site is slower than Bubba in the morning.

I LOVE your (our) web site. You guys do a GREAT job on it. it is tight and functional and great looking.

One thing I notice is no matter when, or from where, I access it, it is very slow. What host do you guys use?

Have you thought about upgrading it a bit?

Also is there a way to increase the avatar picture size a bit? 80X80 is really small and I have sooooooo many cool pictures 😉 I have some cool ones I use on other boards but they allow a bit more space.

Also at some point if we grow and start competing, think about inserting the vWar php module. It is free and fairly cool. Ask Lexx all about it 😉

It's a long story, but we run on a semi-dedicated server. Things were fast at first, but lately they have slowed to a crawl. We've tried some caching tricks to speed things up, but it hasn't work as well as we wanted. I'm working on another option.

We use to have Vwar, but never used it. They no longer support our software and we will not run the version they do support because of security concerns. We were hacked twice when we did use it. There is a group developing an alternative to vwar for our software and I keep tabs on them.

Man, been here what 3 days and I am already the butt of his jokes!! Yeah it's been getting slow as of late. Last night it was brutal.

I dug into this a little deeper. It seems the problems are partially my fault. I have a 75MB mail file on another site and I accessed it through one of my webmail options. I forgot it could not handle this large file and the process would hang. At this time, there are 4 processes taking more than a full CPU's worth of time. Lucky for us, we have access to 4, even if they are shared. ;-)

Also, I had the database config optimized for better performance. I talked to support today and they suggested it wasn't the best settings for my account. I'll see what it take to get them to optimize it for me.

Keep in mind, I am my own admin so to speak. If it's hardware related, it's on the provider. If it's software, it's on me. 🙁

Working to fix it now....

Alrighty..... I took it for a test drive and I have already noticed a difference.

What do you guys think? Better?
