Webcam Security Revisited

I know we talked about this in the past, but a coworker just sent me this link and it sounds really cool.

I'm thinking about setting it up watching our doors from the inside and outside using the motion sensor technique. I plan on using their recommended inside camera, but need an outside camera.

Lexx, didn't you have some recommendations for outside wireless cameras?

Yah, we discussed this over a year ago. Duck found a good setup on one of those one day internet sales. By the time I got around to ordering that one it had expired.

I have a couple of x10 wireless'. I suggest going to x10.com and seeing if their software can interface with homecamera.

If you have a Sams Club, or Walmart nearby, make a quick trip there. There is a two camera setup, 1 wireless, 1 wired with a 100' cable that you should be able to setup with webcams and use the web to monitor your house. Set cost $119.

$15 a year for the monitoring server is pretty damn cheap. I tried to spool video myself on my webaccount and it just managed a pic once in a while, usually timing out. Some things are worth the fee.


If your really serious this time, I'd google some of the solutions and take some notes 🙂
