You just cannot have too little wattage. You can never have too much.

This is not only untrue, but a dangerous thing to believe. Voltage can normally be allowed to vary 20% +/- or even more and not damage equipment. Amperage on the other hand needs to be close, too little or too high and you will blow things. Now a voltage that is too far out of tolerance for too long will cause troubles and variance in voltage can cause system instability, but it typically will not kill electronic components.
I think you were trying to say that a computer is 12V and that is constant, which in theory is true, but even the best power supplies will vary from that 5%-10%

I meant what I said man. Voltage has to match your needs. You cannot plug your computer into a 220V socket and not expect it to blow up the PS. Well actually some PS can auto switch to 220 but that is a different story. 🙂 If you somehow plugged it into a 440 one it would go. Too high voltage.
I was talking basic electronics like radios, TV's etc.... A computer PS does its own conversions to the rails but the voltage has to be -/+ 5 and -/+ 12 V where it should be. However you can put in a 1000Watt PS or a 500Watt PS and both would work as long as your system does not need more than that. If your system has a bunch of lighting and draws 700watts, you would have to have a 700 minimum PS. You could not use that 500Watt one.
More is better with amperage so I would run a 1000Watt one in that example. Amps must be higher than the need. You would keep all voltages the same. A 500 or 1000watt PS would all put out the same voltages on the rails.
If you have a Boom box radio that runs on batteries or a 12V external PS, you really should not run it on a 14V PS. Yes I understand that SOME equipment can tolerate more or a bit less but it is not good and not everything is as tolerant. Voltage should match.

Amperage has to be enough to handle the load. It does NOT have to be to little or high man.
It cannot be too high. Only too low.
If that Boom box requires a 1 Amp PS you MUST have at least a 1 Amp one. It can be a 2 or 3+ Amp one, but not less. A 5oo ma PS would burn out and not be able to power it.
A device will only draw the amount of amps it needs so you can have a 600AMP battery in your car but your radio only uses say 100amps. Your radio is 12V and your battery is 12V, they must be the same. Everything runs on the 12V but can draw varying amps.
Same with an AC TV. You must plug it into 112V-ish. yes it can vary a bit but not too high. 220 volts to a TV would kill it barring any fuses etc...
Most homes have 12Amps to work with so you cannot plug a special vacuum into it that would draw say 16 amps, it would pop your circuit breaker. You can run one at 2 amps say.
You will never see a home vacuum rated higher than 12 amps.
