Your oldest game?

    I just found a copy of "Wing Commander 3" (Starring Mark Hamil and Ginger Lynn Allen) here, and it was released in 1994. I'm hesitant to throw it out after so long 🙂

    I have Eye of the Beholder, a SSI TRS D&D game from 1990.

    Can't play it though. The speed of the creatures is tied to the clock cycle of your CPU. Even on a Pentium, it was nearly unplayable.

    I remember underclocking a proc so I could play wing commander 2 without the Cats ships beign WAAAAAY too fast.

    I think the oldest game that I still have a copy of is Steel Panthers from 1995. Although using wikipedia, I see that Panzer General is actually a year older but I didn't get it until a couple of years later when I got PG, PG2, and a couple other games in a strategy bundle for like $10.

    The sad thing is that they both pre-date me having a computer. I would load Steel Panthers on the computers at the lab in grad school and spend way too much time playing as opposed to doing the work I was supposed to be doing 😀

    Wow, some really old games here. We're just a bunch of pack-rats!

    Here's a question for you: What game is it time for a remake of? I was thinking it's time to remake the Wing Commander Series. It's been TWENTY years since the first one came out! Besides that, it's time for another space shoot-em-up.

    I wish they would remake Racing Destruction Set from the C64 days. That is still my favorite game of all time.

    Heh, I tossed everything about 3 years. Stuff the kids wouldn't even think of playing.

    The oldest thing I have left is Unreal. I gave UT99 and UT03 to my kid and she tossed those, yet she still plays Unreal online with a few fanatics.

    th WC series was greeat. I remember my father one of his buddies and I used to do our own FnF with it and we would alternate who was flying... what a game.

    When I say this, I mean 2 or 3 years after WC came out I was doing this. This was long before emulators.

    I installed WC3. I just HAD to 🙂

    Works great for a 15-year-old game, and it's better than you'd think it would be. The space battles are little more than the starfield screensaver, plus a few ship models. It holds up pretty well, but I wish I could make full use of my Saitek st290. It only handles left/right/up/down and ONE fire button right now. 🙁 I'll have to see if I can map more functions to it.
