100 greatest guitarists as ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine

If you run out of whiskey before the end of each day and you are still conscious, filter some liquid shoe polish through some bread, drinking what comes out the bottom. . .then eat the bread. After a few years of this, sit down and make a list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Yours will make more sense.

There is enough there to debate for days, but these things stick out immediately:

Lou Reed - #52

David Gilmour - #82

Was Kurt Cobain REALLY deserving of #12, beating Mark Knopfler, Dick Dale, Roy Buchanan, Eddie Van Halen, Carlos Santana, Brian May, Jeff Beck, George Harrison, Robert Fripp, Steve Howe, Zappa. . .

I'm kinda surprised to see Stephen Stills there. . .I actually agree with it, I'm just surprised. He kicks serious ass live. No Lindsey Buckingham. . .Joan "Rhythm guitar" Jett is better than Robbie Krieger. I'm kinda surprised John Fogerty isn't higher: The guy was a hook MACHINE for years. You don't often see that kind of production on that level for so long. I think the success of EVERY CCR song is directly due to those hooks.

I almost never agree with those rankings. It's just so subjective. There are a number of people who probably don't need to be on there and several who aren't but should be. There are also a large number of people on that list that I don't even recognize.

I would have put D.Boon higher than #89. That guy could seriously play. Where's Pete Buck from R.E.M.? He is a great guitarist and wrote some great hooks before they went all soft and adult contemporary on everyone.

I give the list 💀 💀 ☠️ for the effort it took to put it together.

I will just say that I agree with you guys... Lame ass list.
