Agreement Reached on Webcasting Royalties

    Not sure how this affects smaller broadcasters yet or will affect Live365 rates, but something has been done at least.

    listeners, and the artists they support has announced its endorsement of an agreement

    establish a $50,000 per service cap on the "$500 per channel minimum royalty."

    the SaveNetRadio coalition said. “This agreement is a clear sign of progress in the
    ongoing negotiations between webcasters and SoundExchange and a very good first step
    toward a viable solution, but it is just the beginning. As the negotiation of recording
    royalty rates and terms continues, SaveNetRadio urges everyone involved to work in
    good faith toward a resolution.”
    The agreement would also require that:
    • Webcasters provide SoundExchange with a comprehensive and accurate annual
    record of songs performed,
    • SoundExchange and DiMA will form a committee to evaluate the issue of
    streamripping

    It's still crapwhat they are doing. What does the radio do, it promotes. You shouldn't get paid for that.
