OK bitches, it's the American Idol thread

There's Adam, and then there's everyone else. I was waiting for him to get over-ambitious and do a crash and burn, but I don't think he's going to. He's just that good, smart and experienced. He has a great voice, and he really understands how to use it. Carrie Underwood was the last person I thought stood out from the crowd this much(all due respect to Bo Bice, who's better than a few other season winners himself), and I think Adam would win over her.

Allison is AMAZING for a 16 year-old. Give her the 10 more years experience Adam has, and it will be very interesting to see where she is. She's very, very talented at even this young age. Unlike other "rocker chicks" we've seen on Idol, she has the voice to do more than rock. She can have a very nice career.

Ppl like Adam and Allison is why I watch this show. Some folks seem to watch just to hate on the contestants, but for me, it's the chance every second or third season to see one or two ppl that deserve to be a star.

Yes, I know.

In the past, I cared about American Idol, but here lately, I've been watching other stuff.

If you ask me, American Idol is the reason fox screws everything else up. It's cheap to make, then makes more money than anything else they have. That's their holy grail.....

Incompetence and stupidity is why they screw everything else up. No other network would screw off a good show just because they have ANOTHER good show. At least they won't cancel the show halfway thru the season, and leave me wondering what the end would have been.

Besides, there are some really good contestants this year, and I do love music.

Case in point...

The Fox network is letting employees of some troubled small businesses decide which one of their colleagues will be laid off and turning the results into a reality show.

The series, "Someone's Gotta Go," is in production, but Fox wouldn't say on Wednesday when it would go on the air.

Deplorable. Undefendable.

I don't even agree with how AI handles elimination day, ratcheting up the tension as they do. Also, I hate how they show the worst performers to make fun of them, as I think they are, in many cases, taking advantage of those with reduced mental capacities. Still, I will continue to tune in AFTER the auditions and watch the serious contenders. Watching talented ppl perform and enjoying a "Cinderella story" at the same time works for me.

Not all reality TV sucks. "Dirty Jobs", "Deadliest Catch", "Man vs Wild", etc, are entertaining and not exploitive. I agree that ppl with bad taste are killing better shows because they watch complete shit that's cheap to make. Ppl are to blame more than the networks - they're just giving us what we want, sadly.

They are giving a large number of people what they want, but not everyone luckily. At least there are a few good things left on television.

And to add a little bit more of the sideshow element, Quentin Tarantino is 'mentoring' the idol contestants next week.

And yes, I'll be in there, right in front of the set.

Actually, he's done it before, and it should make for an interesting show. I'm actually looking forward to it now. At least he knows quite a lot about music, although not from a performance standpoint. It will be cool to see what songs he recommends for each contestant.

I think Quentin Tarantino would be the coolest guy to sit next to on a cross-country flight. 3 hours BS'ing about movies and music with him would be great.

Interestingly, I think the worst person to sit next to on a Trans-Atlantic flight would also be Quentin Tarantino. At some point, I think you'd need serious booze, or you might walk out the door 🙂

During my more 'jock-y, much skinnier, weightlifter/football player/wrestler' days I had a tiny girlfriend (110lbs-ish), one day she jokingly punched me in the stomach. It keeled me over and put me on the ground gasping for air. She had hit me just right to knock the wind out of me. She taunted me relentlessly about how she had the physical control in the relationship after that.
