Just some running comments on the stations songs. Need some place for feedback.
Clutch - The Mob Goes Wild. I can't turn this one up loud enough!!. I ignore customers calls when it's up in rotation. Can we add more CLUTCH? PU-LEASE
Tantric - Breakdown. Always loved that song. Add more.
Shinetown (or is it Shinedown?)- Simple Man Like Skynard, like there version, but undecided on them
Mudvayne Like it, but the dude screaming for no apparent reason I just don't get.
Drowning Pool Like them but Tear Away is just so-so Add "Bodies" to the rotation.
P.O.D. Can we get some on?I dig them.
Stabbing Westward ?
Dope Can we get some on? Die MF* die... is a good start.
Let me tell you a little bit about how I pick the music. For the most part, I do it all by feel. I have a certain sound I am going for and I add in a little of the more popular newer music. The sound I try to highlight is based on a core set of bands. I won't tell because I don't want to give away my secret.
We only have 300 Mb of diskspace and 40Mb is reserved for the Video Games Show. I use every bit of the remaining space. One of the cool features of Live365 is I can do a thing called side loading songs. These songs don't count against the diskspace, but the selection is somewhat limited. Since it helps me increase the amount of music on the station without raising the costs, I tend to be a little less picky with these songs. It's part of the reason I have some bands that you probably have never heard off and don't quite fit the station. I take more chances with them and then check the voting from time to time.
With that said, there are certain bands I avoid. Linkin Park for instance. I wouldn't play them if you paid me. They are way over played in regular radio, so I avoid them. I use to be a big fan of POD, but I have not heard anything lately that I really liked. Stabbing Westward would fit my sound, but I don't remember anything new from them and I am very limited in my selection.
Saliva. I am torn on this one. I like them, but they get too much radio play. I had a few songs, but pulled them a while back.
DP - Bodies is in rotation. :-)
Dope, I love this band and I need to find more from them. I had several of their albums in rotation on the old station, but I had 40 gigs for my music back then. :-)
Clutch doesn't seem to do too well on the station. That particular song has kept steady in the voting, so I left it. I have about 4 albums worth of Clutch, but some of it may be too old for my current list of songs.
Tantric is an awesome band. They have a clean sound that I really, really like. They just need more new music because I have wore out everything else they had.
Shinedown is a band I really like and they do extremely well in the voting. I have 4 songs in rotation and at any given time, 3 of them will be in the top 20 songs based on listener voting. I'm just concerned because they get so much radio play. I hope they don't get old. To help counter that, I play 2 songs that are album cuts and no one else is playing.
Mudvayne - It's amazing how popular these guys are. I really dig the singing and tend to pick songs with only a little screaming. Slipknot is the same way, but they are my number 1 band without any doubt. I typically play stuff with less screaming and more singing, but it's still there.
I appreciate the comments and welcome the feedback. Just keep in mind, the real trick here is to keep the station interesting with a very limited amount of diskspace. That is the really challenging part. I'll go back through the sideload songs and see if any of these artists have other songs. If they do, I'll try to add them. The next time I rotate new stuff in, I'll keep this in mind too.
One last item, the music playlist is 100% random. I found one program that will let me set up the playlists like I want, but it's very cumbersome to use and I'm afraid to mess with the station considering how well it's done without my planning the playlist.
cumbersome, hmmm ive heard that somewhere 😛 , and wasnt dope the guys who remade.....i spin you right round baby like a record baby. the names got to be in there somewhere, seein as thats all the lirics....im no critic, but tantrics just too pretty
Songs I am working on adding right now. Got them picked out. I'll get them cleaned up and you should hear them soon.
Clutch - Regulator (this may not do well, but I like it and thought what the hell). Clutch - Profits of Doom (this rocks!) Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench (gotta throw them once in a while) Danzig - Mother (oh, the memories......) Static X - Black and White (another funky song, but what the heck)
I have a few more I want to add, but this will have to do for now.
Clutch doesn't seem to do too well on the station. That particular song has kept steady in the voting, so I left it. I have about 4 albums worth of Clutch, but some of it may be too old for my current list of songs.
People are stupid is all I've got to say. Clutch for about the last 4 years has been at the top of my list of great bands of all time. Oddly right next to NOFX and Sublime. None the less, Regulator is a great song. Space Grass is another of my fav. But my all time fav Clutch song is a hard one to find called "4 lord", it's not on any albume I have or have seen, and I'm 99% sure I've heard them all, all that they have on their web site anyway.
Anyway, if you want to hear me talk more about how kick ass and pure rock Clutch is let me know.
Edit: Almost forgot "Careful with that mic...", true test for any Drummer and the Vocals IMO, not the greatest test Clutch has for a drummer by far but a good one.
I'm putting Regulators up on the next batch of songs. I'm cleaning up a bunch of songs and it's included. I also have one other, Profits of Doom. Let's see how these do. :-)
The one thing about Clutch is they have a really unique sound. It's unlike anyone else, so you either love them or hate them. I dig them, but there are some songs that make me go what were they thinking? I have about 4 albums worth of clutch, but I'm trying to stick to the newer stuff since it was actually getting some airplay in terrestial radio. Maybe the world is ready.... :-)
Custom is a pretty good band.. perfer misfits with glenn danzig to the new danzig. :/ i gotta voice my opinion of my gothic self about how your station seems to be lacking in the marilyn manson dept 😛 How about Marilyn Manson-The Horrible People. from the remix and repent cd.<1997> 🙂
listened to some Clutch today courtesy of our good friends at Nap$ter  Music wasn't bad (I listened to like 2 songs), but didn't care too much for the singer. Music reminded me of old school metal like Deep Purple or something. Will listen again.
Any old manson? Dope Hat, Lunchbox,White Trash. or how bout irresponsible hate anthem, beautiful people,Angel with the scabbed wings, dope show,i dont like the drugs, last day on earth, sweet dreams, tainted love, use your fist and not your mouth, love song, fight song, disposable teens, count to six and die, personal jesus,para-noir,paranoiac. think i named atleast one song per album 😛
No. I listened to it at work. I am currently listening to No Use For A Name in the car. Live in a Dive album. I can usually get through one song each direction 🙂 , although if I have to wait for a train to go through it can mean a lot more 🙂
I've got these in rotation. Keep in mind, I only have 300MB's of space to play with.
Marilyn Manson Disposable Teens Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) 0:03:01 Marilyn Manson Rock Is Dead The Matrix Soundtrack 0:03:08 Marilyn Manson Tainted Love Not Another Teen Movie ST 0:03:16 Marilyn Manson The Nobodies Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) 0:03:34

That's quite the collection there J. It's a pretty broad spectrum of music. Do you listen to all of it, or is it that your tastes have evolved over time and you haven't cleaned out the stuff you don't listen too any more?
Wow! I don't know whats crazier, the fact you wrote all of that or the fact that I read every bit of it. :-)
Very cool. You reminded me I need to get my CoC out. Great stuff. Dark Angel, man I loved them in the 80's as a teenager. Haven't thought of them in forever.
I saw two bands that I might need some help with: Powerman 5000 and Rammstein. Do you happen to have the latest albums from both?
you gimme the blanks ill rip them all 🙂 and yeah i listen to all of it. everything from old speed and trashmetal to punk to rock back down to norweigan black metal and industrial 🙂 even some glammetal to spice it up. and i dont currently have the new 5000 cd or rammstein, but im going up to the mall today so ill prolly pick them up.
also just happened to aquire slayers decade of agression disk 1 and 2. diabolus in musica, the bonus cd for diabolus in musica, divine intervention, god hates us all, haunting the chapel, hell awaits, live intrusion, live undead, reign in blood, seasons in the abyss, seasons in the abyss limited, serenity in murder, show no mercy, south of heaven, and undisputed attitude
As I said in my staff meeting. You know those tv commercials about adult ADD where they flip through the tv channels really quick so you know what it's like? Well those are the only commercials that can hold my attention. (I hope you guys get those commercials too, otherwise this whole post is only postcount ++)
yeah ive seen those commercials. lol.... then i guess instead of "llenandose de Gusanos"-Corrupted-100 mins Jerusalem-Sleep-53 mins At War With Satan-Venom-23 mins your more prone to listen to, Micro-E!-Wehrmacht-0.1 secs You Suffer-Napalm Death-0.7 secs and Mutually assured destruction-Electro Hippies-1.0 secs. 🙂

hehe actually one of my favorite songs ever is the 26 min version of dazed and confused by Zepplin, but I never make it through the whole song in one sitting. My wife goes nuts on long trips with me, the stereo in my car is an mp3 player so thats liek 200+ songs per cd, and I can't listen to a whole song without skipping forward.
Just wanted to stop by to show some appreciation for this radio station.
Radio where I live is crap, so its really cool to be able to hear these bands, especially the ones I've never heard of before (like Lollipop Lust Kill).
Now that I know the voting actually has effect on the rotation, I will be sure to use it more.
DUDE! I am right there with you. I've been saying all along we need internet in our cars.... Just avoid the porn pervs.... :-) For those of you that listen, you know what I'm talking about. ;-)
Thanks for dropping by and letting us know what you think. We love interaction on the site, so feel free to keep coming by and killing some time.
Feel free to suggest bands. We can't play everyone, but you never know when you might turn us onto something cool! We are working with Warner Bros to bring more cool new artisit. If it works out, we will post info on the site.
Don't forget to vote for us on the Live365 nominations. We really appreciate it!
I started crying I was laugh so loud when I read this line. All I can picture is Atomm in the image of Joe Dirt yelling "Rock On"!! Sorry dude... just a funny line to hear when you aren't living in the 80's
Hehehe! It's the metal head in me and I got that movie. I need to get that sound clip and use it on the station.
That's not my voice Duck. It's a radio buddy of mine that does annoucer work. He did some stuff for free, but it's all outdated. I used what I could, but I can't get any more from him right now.
been awhile since i posted on here.. but still listen 🙂 aquired lately..
