I agree but we will still be around. We still have the gaming side and we will still have a community.

The radio station enhanced us but did not define us.

While I did not listen to the station all that much I will still miss having it. It sucks but it not the end of the world. It is not the end by any means.

    👍

It'll be a damn shame, and I hope it doesn't happen. I wish the Gov't would get their shit together and decide what they are doing. All this nebulous shit that's been going on for years has got to stop. Make a decision, set the ground-rules. . .and preferably, do a decent job so we don't spend the next five years fighting the regs.

It's a lot to ask from the gov't, I suppose, but it's not like they haven't already been working on it for five years!

Its part of the name, so I think it DOES define us to a great extent. If the radio stations have to be removed, should the clan choose a new name?

Sorry to hear this Atomm, but I've never listened to either station just because I dont' care for that type of music.... well at least your not playing rap.

As much as the station is/was what defined us, if this decision holds up I think we stick to our name. Even in a futile form of protest over this complete and utter bullshit being pulled on us by these large media conglomerations. And don't forget it's the Clearchannels, Sony's....etc that are causing this.

That is not true. It started out as a community of people with music and gaming interests. This has not changed. Just because we may not have a Live 365 stream does not mean we no longer enjoy music. Seriously how does that part change?

As I said I do not believe the radio stream defines us but enhances our interests. We no longer run a game server so should we all just stop playing games? We can enjoy other servers just as we can all enjoy music whether it be on line or our own CD collections. The lack of the radio stream won't effect our core community. Most members here enjoy gaming and we all enjoy music, even as diverse as it is.

Of course we would keep the name, sheesh! 😉

Thanks guys... I appreciate the things you have said.... I've been down this road once before in 2002 when I had to shut down the original shoutcast. However, back then I only had a handful of listeners. Now, we have thousands. The number of presets for GR1 is over 16,000 people and GR2 is coming up fast. It will be a shame, but as always, I will keep an eye out for a way to Radio a part of what we do.

If this does go through, then I'll probably work up some sort of Podcast. Who knows, it may be better for us in the long run to focus on the gaming side of things.

Yah that is pretty much bullshit. I'm sorry to see something like this go. I don't really think it will change anything as far as the community here goes though. Someone needs to fkn pwn the RIAA.

    Attom that sucks ass.
I'm very sorry to hear that.

As you know I've been a huge fan of the station from when I first stumbled upon GRB years ago (by accident) looking for new music.
I've purchased a Premium account and supported the station as best I could through the years.
The rest - as they say - is history (good or bad....)

Were you ever able to secure the $2000 needed for the Small Broadcasters Licence?

Moving from Live365 to Itunes/MS Media player/Tivo might ease the separation..... Or was the SBL in conjunction with Live365?

For me the station defined the gaming group.

    Best of luck.

I wasn't able to put the money together Duck. In fact, it's a good thing I did not because the people that did are even further up a creek without a paddle. If they had it last year, all of the new rates are retroactive to the beginning of 2006.

Some of the people that did lowered their listener cap to 25, even though they could have 500 x 2 stations.

I appreciated the station support. The VIP stuff really helped me pay for the station.

The writing is on the wall, July 15th or bust.....

Well if it's any help - I signed the petition also.
Let me know - I'll do what I can to help - any way I can Attomm
