What are some really good bands you like right now?

    hey guys,
    What are some really good bands you like right now? I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The White Stripes, Muse, but my ultimate favorite would have to be Delta Spirit right now. Went to their live show where they performed with Dr. Dog with my roommate at umgd and it was freakin awesome!! Once they played their song Trashcan, the crowd got pretty hyped up...good stuff! I've been a big fan of theirs for the longest time now and the songs on their Ode to Sunshine album that came out not too long ago on their myspace.com/deltaspirit page is pretty good stuff. they've really got that indie/rock/folk sound I really like. well, just wanted to share some bands I'm diggin so anyone into Delta Spirit's stuff I am? if not, what are some really good band you're into?

    Can't say that I've heard Delta Spirit. The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and Muse are pretty good. The White Stripes are a band that I love some songs and can't stand others.

    I've been listening to a lot of The Tossers, Swingin' Utters, and Bad Religion lately. I also listened to a couple of Buffalo Tom CDs while painting last weekend. Mostly however I listen to either The Punk Phase or a random playlist of everything labeled as "punk" on my computer.

    Outside of that I listen to music from ravetrax.com and bassdrive.com [techno & bass and drum music] when I am working.

    It really varies a lot, depending on what I am doing mostly though listening to the 1. of the gamers radio stations at work.

    Chevelle, Finger eleven, Drowning Pool (if I got clients I am turning down the vol, most people get nervous/itchy when they hear heavy stuff - really never understood that phenomena)

    At home more

    Well I am more into the heavy stuff, though I guess as long as its good music for me I love it. It does not matter what genre.

    I used to be into Mariah Carey & Christina Aguilera, but I've been on a real Britney tear lately, playing her early stuff over and over. Oh, and the soundtrack to High School Musical (the original, not the lame-ass HSM 2). I'm just so OVER Miley Cyrus. Her last 2 albums haven't offered anything new, and I'm starting to think she peaked at age 14 🙁

    Doc, I knew it had to be a joke. Listening to Britney, when ? Lately? ....and I thought you were formating only your compi. Something terrible must have happend to you instead. You are sure u feel ok though? 😀

    But really why not? A known gamer once told me: "It needs are all kind of people around here."
    The level of tolerance seems to be very high here.

    Man, I can't tell you how much I love that Queen/Black Sabbath Remix. Man, I gotta see Sabbath again.

    Freddie was an ugly mug, but man he could sing. When I went through my CD's to sell, I actually kept my Queen CD's.

    Ok, I'll forgive you this time, but no more blasphemy.....

    BTW, that first Lynyrd Skynyrd video is pure gold. Man, it's everything I barely remember about 70's music as a kid. Did I tell you about the time I ate BBQ with Lynyrd Skynyrd? I didn't talk to them, but I was in awe of their presence.....

    You probably don't even remember what you ate. 🙂 Was everyone bugging them for autographs?

    I think the clip you're talking about is the Marshall Tucker Band song, "Can't You See." Marshall Tucker Band was always the red-headed stepchild to Lynyrd Skynyrd. They didn't have the popularity, the output, and the number of hits that Skynyrd did, but their best tunes measure up to any Southern Rock music ever made.

    I was very sheltered, musically, as a child. I only started to learn about Rock in high school. I remember when my buddy played some Skynyrd for me and I wanted to know why he was listening to "Bluegrass". 😳 Michael Jackson's Thriller album pushed me off the top 40 station in search of something that wasn't "All Michael, All the Time", so that's one I owe MJ 👍

    and as you mentioned, the Black Sabbath/Queen mashup.

    They're all great clips, but I have a great affection for the Marshall Tucker Band tune. They weren't the greatest musicians(though certainly serviceable), but they had their own sound, wrote some great tunes, and Toy Caldwell's guitar playing was an enigma. He pretty much played every note and chord with his thumb, and while his style limited him, it also defined his sound. "Can't You See" is the greatest "my woman left me and I'm fixin' to die" song ever. Ever. The imagery, the masculine angst. . .distilled Southern Rock poetry.

    I like Joan Jett and Heart, now the MT Band did not arrive yet. They are very "together" just like the OMDaredevils. (Most times I need to listen to more until I can grab the full depth.)

    Music started to get to me with Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath But then there were this plenty of local bands. Mostly Punk, Volk, Rock related. One of them the Toten Hosen.
    Looking back I think I know why the harder bands were my favorites, still are. Its nice to let go + dance + head bang a bit. Music that way has a physical dimension.

    AW At the moment, listening to the Possies, and lately catching a little of "Atomm's eat the world" affection for Weezer. Sweet stuff. Hope he kept the Venyls even if he threw the cds.

    I maybe stupid, but not that stupid, Joc...
    I knew which ones u meant and was trying it at work, but it would not do. So I gave up and then came V2009 and I was busy. My first thought was also: must have to do with Europe.

    Just now tried again at home all vids do just work fine even by direct clicking. The only one which I have to enter by the link is the Fleetwood Mac, nice singer that Steve Nicks.

    RR's The March is sweet stuff. Heart r beautiful.

    Although I pay all respect to Atomm I never understood how people could like this mixing up songs, not my thing.
    Thinking that when watching, he must have put a voodoo spell on me somehow: I caught a Weezer Virus and can't stop listening to the Possies.

    reminded me of Jean Giono´s awarded animation film. In reality its telling a story of a man who was living far off any big city in a France before the WW I
    rare: movie is french but u can choose english subtitle though the efect of the awesome animtion comes better through whithout the narrators voice. I remember seeing it with nothing but the sound of the wind blowing etc.

    Giono's animated French film looks FANTASTIC! Love it. I dragged the bookmark to my desktop, and I'll watch the whole thing when I have a half-hour free to watch it all the way through. Thanks.

    Fixed that one a while ago, Doc. Don't seem to have'em probls lately with watching vids.

    Nice that u like it. Was watching the animation only one time before, last year and that was on a french/german co channel arte. Kept thinking about it and I am glad i found it googling parts of the french title which I remembered. And I am not talking french at all...

    !!!QUESTION FOR SARGE!!!

    Last month I bought the limited edition (CD and DVD) of Dropkick Murphys - The meanest of times.

    I can't get enough of it - my wife has threatened bodily harm if I keep this up - meh so what...
    I also bought Yhe singles collection Volume 1 1996 - 1997 (not as good in my opinion)

    Your question - any suggestions for other DKM disks?

    DKM are great. It's a band that I am really wanting to see live and I'm hoping to get to see one of their St. Patrick's Day shows next year.

    Do or Die and The Gangs All Here are two of their best albums imo.
    Live on St. Patrick's Day is a great, great live album.
    The Warrior's Code has "Shipping up to Boston" and "Tessie" on it. I'm sure you've heard those if you've watched anything involving the Red Sox.
