It better be Gamersradio, but if it's not, what are you listening to?
I'll start off, and I must say, I am not listening to GR
In the car I have been listening to Whiskeytown - Faithless Street and Strangers Almanac albums. Some awesome alt-country there with the requisite songs about drinking too much and heartbreak 🙂
In the office today I listened to ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead a live concert recording from here: Archive.org Live Music Archive which has a ton of stuff for all tastes.
I think I may dig out one of those Matisyahu concents (see hasidic Reggae thread) for this afternoon's entertainment...
What ports do they block? I only "borrow" files from Usenet. I never get stuff from the web. The news service I use has a few different ports you can "borrow" stuff through. 😉
Also as bubba said you could always use a proxy server.
I went through the metal category. It's amazing how much of that I play. I did see some bands I have never heard. I'll have to check them out.
As for what I am listening to at the moment.
I bought the New Killswitch Engage album and the new Shinedown album. Throw in a Live cd from Ian Moore and Avenged Sevendust and that about covers it. If I can remember to get my Bob Marley out of the wifes vehicle, I'll dig on it for a while.
In one month, I will add Rob Zombie to the list.....
Currently listening to The Mountain Goats - Live at the Bottom of the Hill in SF. Found it on the archive.org site and has good sound quality. That place is a veritable goldmine if you like live music.
I think I love you guys!!!!!!! 😉 All this talk of music man, it is so cool.
I LOVE âLiveâ Have all of there CDâs seen them numerous times. One of my all time favorite. I also love Collective Soul. Been into Dire Straits lately on the way home.
My all time, above all, the best band in the world is Pink Floyd. Do NOT start with me if you do not like them 😉 They Rule and if you do not agree you suck 😉
A band I love a lot is called Crack the Sky. They have some Pink Floyd like sound son some songs. I bought all of there CDâs as well.
Lets see some other music I love, man there is just soooo much⦠I could list a lot of mainstream bands like Tool, My favorite band of the newer years, Korn , Staind, Bare Naked Ladies, 3 doors down.. hell I could go on and on most anything on the radio actuallyâ¦.
My problem is I like most everything! I am weird that way! Except for deep annoying rap. I like a lot of better rap though like Emminem, rage against the machine etcâ¦
I can take anything. Except Opera! GOD I HATE OPERA!!!! Classical is cool though. I even like some musicals and I am not even gay!!! 😉
For some lesser known groups you may not heard of. I love a group called Bionic Jive, check them out. They made a song once with another band called Diamonete(sp?) which I also now like very much. It is cool getting g introduced to new stuff.
Hell there are others I cannot think of right nowâ¦
You "perked" Sarges ears. Not sure that is the kind of attention a new guy wants. I may be the one named Bubba, but Sarge is the one that is gonna make you his "B*tch"
I am a big fan of Live. Mental Jewelry is one of my 5 must have albums. I haven't bought their latest stuff, but I've got everything from Secret Samahdi back.
I like Floyd, but I've kind of moved away from them. I got to see the Division Bell twice in Dallas. I even have a backstage pass from the show. I didn't get back stage, but I was working for a radio station at the time and my boss gave it to me. Cool stuff.
I love Bionic Jive. I have 3 of their songs on the station. They get strange ratings. For the longest time they were some of my lowest rated songs. I refused to remove them because I liked them so much. Now, they tend to be top 25%-50% of my playlist. I only have one album. It's the green one with the big speakers. Do they have anything else?
Listened to the new Belle & Sebastian album today. Very good alternapop and very catchy. Also listened to the collaboration between Calexico and Iron & Wine. This is very good as well, although it is just an EP so it is very short (7 songs).
Belle and Sebastian are Scottish (I think) and play sorta pop music. Sometimes sounds like it might be something out of the '60s or '70's, and other times sounds much more modern. Hard to think of anyone that they sound similar to.
Iron and Wine is really just one guy and he does mostly lo-fi, stripped down, acoustic stuff. Calexico plays sorta alt-country with a hispanic twist to it.
The two together sound like Calexico fronted by Iron & Wine. Not something unique, but good nonetheless.
Been in kinda a pop mood lately. Before that was listening to a lot of alt-country (Whiskeytown, Uncle Tupelo, Jayhawks).
Currently listening to Tom Daily - former guitarist for the Smoking Popes.
Yup. They are pretty irreverant. They are also a very good Irish punk band that lean more towards the Irish than the punk 🙂 Very Pogues-like
Tosser = "Depending on who you ask means a commode, drunk, or the currency of Britain rejected when the Irish established their independence in the 1920¹s. "
Pogue Mahone (Pogues original name) = Gaelic for "kiss my Ass"
Drove to Beantown this afternoon and on the way home I listened to No Use For a Name, "Leche Con Carne!" and "Hard Rock Bottom". Two rippin', excellent west coast punk albums for sure.
I picked up the new Godsmack album today. I listened to half of it. So far, I'm disappointed. They seem to have mellowed out...
I have been enjoying Rammstein and The Hurt lately.
Coming soon, I will pick up the new Tool album. I hope it rocks. I'm getting kind of bored of the music lately. Need something to help me drive fast too...... :-)
Man I am really behind musically. I did not even know Godsmack had a new CD, I really like them. Sheesh. I really have to get my shit together in lifeâ¦. I get in such rutsâ¦I need to set my damn drums back up and jam again. I really miss playing. Maybe if I can get into it again I can try to find some guys to jam with,,, Hellâ¦..Now I am depressed againâ¦.
You are not too far behind. It came out yesterday. :-) I picked it up at Best Buy for $10. Tool comes out next Tuesday.
You gotta remember, I read a lot about music and try to keep up with the new releases I might be interested in for the station. If I can find some time, I have a whole bunch of tunes to clean up and put on the station. It should be my biggest update ever.....
Well since Im a cheapskate and GR was full this morning I'm listening to another station. They aren't too bad.... but not an all day station. Black Label Society is on right now 🙂 They are my backup station.... play a lot of guitar stuff. The other day I heard a song from a band named Ark. It was pretty cool apparently they are a Swedish band, worth looking into IMO - but I also only heard the one song, which name I forget now 🙁
I too listen to just about anything...except country. I wasn't allowed to listen to anything other than country till I was 12 and rebelled. Ah I still hold fond memories of my first pawnshop purchased copy of Metallicas Black album. This morning I listed to Black Eyed Peas followed by Zepplin on the way to work. My husband is always making fun of how I mix my tunes. One of the cd's I burned for my car has Diecast followed by TLC 😀 Speaking of Diecast, we need some on GR.
My current 'don't leave the house without' cd is manmade god. I HAVE to listen to 'made it through another day' (don't know if thatâs really the title but its song 2 on the cd lol) on the way home from work.
Ok enough rambling for now. but really - look into Ark and get some Diecast.
