This is a great read to understand what is wrong with the current system for establishing rates for Internet Radio and Copyright in general. It's a bit lengthy, but it is an easy read for such a complicated situation.

Something interesting I learned is the nail in the coffin was actually set in the DMCA. Man, that law screwed everything up.

Atomm, That is a great article. I am composing a letter to my Senators and congress people, I don't necessarily think it'll help but I think at least one of my Senators will take heed. This article will be helpful in explaining our side of this.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) is the NEW Chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee which has oversight of the Copyright Royalty Board and the Copyright Office has been a long-time supporter of small webcasters. In November, 2002 Sen. Leahy co-authored the Helms-Leahy Bill which strengthened the Small Webcasters Settlement Act of 2002. In that bill, the Senator asserted the need to protect the developing technology of Internet Radio for the benefit of listeners not being served by AM/FM Radio and providing an opportunity for local singers and musicians who would never be able to "hold any of the few spots" in the Top 40 music charts.
