    OK, stand up and represent for your home-town, homies! If you live somewhere painfully rural/small/untalented, pick a big city near you and lay the tunage upon us.

    If we can avoid it, let's leave Boston out. That's just too easy, isn't it? For my part, I'll leave Nashville out 🙂 Pittsburgh will always be my home, anyway.

    First up, from 1980, King Cool holds court. They really didn't know what a video was, but they didn't let that stop them! Good tune, though.

    Donnie totally rocks the yellow suit & bow-tie! I had this album way back when. . .It was my favorite, just because of the album art:

    I can't find a picture of the BACK of the album, which shows (IIRC) the guitar, the glasses and a snub-nosed revolver lying on the brick road. I always thought of it as Donnie having stripped himself down even further, as a continuation of the front cover, and what remained was his bare essence. My friend from High School, Kev, asked me a question about the back cover that makes be smile to this day: "Where was he hiding the gun?" 😀

    And finally, a little bit of Chizmo Charles. This guy is a regional treasure. He was ancient 16 years ago when I used to see him perform at the local watering hole, and he's STILL at it. He told me is real love is. . .POLKAS! No joke. He performs polkas and the blues, but usually not at the same gig. 🙂 I never got to see him do a polka. Maybe someone will post a video one day.

    Well, when you take Boston out of the mix, it pretty much leaves me with Phish. I am not a Phish fan. I also haven't had time to do the research necessary to see who else might show up....

    Well, go with Boston then. Finding videos from Boston bands is easier than shooting fish in a barrel, but I didn't think I'd be crippling you with that 'no Boston' proviso. For that matter, I don't really know how close to Boston you live. If you're real close, that WOULD make things difficult. Sorry! 🙂

    Just to clarify for saintchism, I made up a REASON to post this vid. I had nothing to do with the making of the video or song. I was just being silly, which is my usual way of acting.

    The song may be spooky to anyone who has never heard it before, but I've known about this song my whole life(it was recorded in 1971), so I've had a long time to get used to it. Now it just sounds odd, and I find it funny that someone would write such a song.

    I know of which city you speak. I found it using the info you gave, but in the interest of privacy, I'll make the internet stalkers do their own work and won't mention it by name. 🙂

    Some very nice, and very, very, expensive knives are made there. I used to sell them. Hope you got some at a home-town discount before you left.

    OLD Metal! There's some music I can listen to! Hell, it used to be Deep Purple's "Machine Head" was considered Metal. I love that album, but people into today's Metal probably wouldn't be able to identify it as such.

    Just this morning a very sweet aunt of mine died. I need to listen to some Thin Lizzy. That music of them always tranquilizes me when I think too much.

    I'm sorry for your loss. I never really know what to say at times like these. I'm not a praying man, and I don't ascribe to any particular religious doctrine, so that leaves me with two go-to lines: "I'm sorry for your loss", and, "Damn, that just sucks." They aren't much comfort, but that's a secular life in a nutshell, anyway.

    Here is a band u can meet frequently on all kinds of ocasions in and around Düsseldorf and Cologne. At Galas, or special events like mariage parties of ppl with money they r often hired.

    Its not my type of music as I am more towards the heavy stuff, but never the less I can enjoy them for the light party effect and they r good musicians and the drummer is the one I like best.

    OK, to be honest, those last three were painful. The band doing schmaltzy Barry Manilow tunes is "The best band in 34 years?" Owch.

    The others are the type of pop I'd avoid in any language. 🙂

    Here's a couple by a band featuring a singer I used to listen to in Pittsburgh - Jill Simmons.

    The first vid is "Fire on the Mountain" (the Grateful Dead song). Jill sings backup on that one, but the other woman is good too.

    The music is not mine.
    A pain was to listen to the "I'd Rather Go Blind" vid. It stoped every 10 seconds for at least 4 or st 10 seconds.

    Mono & Nikitaman this is family. Nice ppl. I love to know they r happy doing there music. That is what counts. They have a couple of songs which I really digg! and it is not POP. its called Ragga or Reaggae.

    I have had similar problems with your videos. Maybe it has to do with how busy that trunk of the internet is at that time. There's probably a limit as to how much bandwidth there is across the Atlantic ocean.

    It sounds like Jill's got even better since I used to see her sing. She always had a great voice, but over the years, she's gained even better control. There are still some more hometown artists I'd like to post, but I can't find any videos of them.

    The problem with the bandwidth limit then also have to be on ur side of the Atlantic. 😛

    It is getting close to xmas and because it is a family related festivity u probably will think of ur hometown tunes now and then. If u want it or not.
