    Or there about.
Doc if I pissed you off, sorry.
Politics really gets to me, and I as a rule of thumb never talk about it. EVER.

Anyways, cool off period completed. I just need to stay the F out of anything political.

    K?

Thanks Duck, I appreciate it, and understand and agree with your comment about staying out of political things. Those threads never did much for me either, as history shows.

I am also sorry if I pissed you off. I could have written what I did in a less confrontational manner.

Sorry, couldn't resist.... Ok, point taken. I'll stop posting Political Threads. But you have to realize, I don't talk about this stuff anywhere else on the web, so I've always felt the need to post here.

Right or wrong/ left or right / good or bad - what still makes us stand out is that we can talk freely about this in the open and the change of power was done freely and not at the barrel of a gun.

So no matter what - winner or loser, were still the gold standard.

Some questions have risen inside of me:
Does that mean, that we are not supposed to talk about any issues with political content here?
That would mean I have to stop posting this news stuff too, or?
Or wouldn´t it be possible to mark the thread with "politics inside" or something and ppl that know themselves for getting rage attacks simply don´t go there or at least don´t post there?

I find it pretty hard for Atomm not to be able NEVER to talk about some of the stuff that annoys him.

Paladin also seems to have that urge of talking. I never saw it tho.

Maybe you guys just wait until Duck is back and ask him what ideas he has.

And I dunno how the others think about it.

For me personally it was very interesting to look through those threads and to compare your political streams to our european ones and I find that having a bad discourse - being able to discuss in a tranquil manner shows skills too that have to be acquired (nobody is born the perfect talker) - is sometimes better than having none at all. How can one learn when he does not practise¿

The odd thing that is happening in the US (and I don't know if it happens in other countries) is the fabrication 'truth'. We now have "reliable" media sources on both extreames of the political spectrum. These sources allow people to form an opinion based on no facts and defend it until they are blue. In other words, you can always find a news agency that will agree with your bias. Its a dangerous thing, this biggest problem with this idea is that is has completely polarized Americans, and left them with a "if you aren;t with me you are against me" additude.

All said I think people need to stop taking an opposing politcal view point as a personal attack and open their eyes to see the real truth and that is that the more we allow the public to be polarized, the more the corrupt politicians get away with.

Finally, the name calling has got to end. People need to learn to respect those with different beliefs. A small anecdote if I may. When I was a wrestler, I more towards the elite end in ability, and thus when I had a good opponent it was an all out war on the mat. The was a guy who was from a neighboring school, he was in my class and also very good. Being that our schools competed at a similar level and were neighboring and often traveled long distances to find teams that could compete with us, we often travelled together. This kid, my opponent and I would always choose to room together, we were great friends. We were the only room with two kids from different teams, but we got along great. no one could ever understand how we could be such good friends but yet battle it out on the mat weekly. The key was we respected each others skill and learned from each other and payed attention to what was successful, we even shared tips on shared opponents. The political system needs to learn to respect each other and work together. The only thing they work together on today is screwing the public.

Ppl here have deep-seated beliefs. In theory, if we could control our tempers and discuss facts rationally, there could be some give and take, and maybe we'd all be richer for the experience. Reality however is much different. Freedom of speech is one of the tenets of the US Bill of Rights, and I've never met anyone that wasn't strongly in favor of it. However, if you keep sticking your finger in an electrical socket, eventually you will decide to not do that anymore, even though you could do it any time you want. It loses it's appeal after awhile 🙂

Many a well-intentioned poster has started with thoughts like yours. However, it's become obvious, most ppl are not reasonable and cannot disagree with anyone politely. My cite for this is the entire internet.

I would be happy if ppl would tag posts of a political nature with "Politics Inside". At this point, I'd be happier if they didn't post them at all, but that is merely my opinion, and it has no more or less weight than anyone else's. Political threads are like playing catch with a lit stick of dynamite. Sooner or later, boom.

Bubba posted while I was posting. I should just delete mine, as his gets to the core of the issue, and mine is more related to the aftermath, but I suppose they compliment each other.

    Excellent post, Bubba.

Yah, Doc you are right it was not a 👍 it was an excellent one. 😀

Bubba showed more or less how one can benefit from the principle of synergy.
An idealstic post. I <3 it.

Your´s was realstic one, Doc. Nothing against it tho

Right now there is a tendency to avoid polarization and turn to "new" methods of getting things done in german "politics". It is practised by the younger ppl rather because they are the ones that get engaged but do not want to be necessarily part of one of the two or three big parties. These big parties are too big and static, to get things done and be flexible and quick enough doing so. Politically engaged ppl who want to participate and lay in their knowlegde and energy are not willing anymore to do it explicitly under the flag of one of the big or even smaller parties.
    I <3 it.

And then, very generally spoken. Human interactive dialogs about whats however are always a dynamic process or no? To advance in developement - and shouldn´t that be the goal in life - it does not help to simply avoid conflicts. It woud be better to improve the way in which they are lead.

I broke things down for me and maybe simplified them too much, but it comes down to:

Atomm and others have to keep their mouth shut, becuz Duck and maybe others are not able to discuss things without getting in rage and hurting ppl. I don´t think that this is his intention. I doubt that. That´s why I said, wait and see, ask him what ideas he comes up with. He is a clever person. Not dumb at all.

BTW its Sunday "morning" (afternoon) and I am going to take it EASY with some of my favorite music that goes with it :Ska it

I was going to get indignant over the gay flag, but Bubba installed AIX yesterday, which is a game mod I'd wanted GRB to play for six months. Because of that, I told him I loved him, not in a gay way, but in an old-style naval tradition way. . .so I guess I have no room to complain. 🙂

Things work for awhile, then they stagnate, get corrupted, and lose focus, so new things are needed, or the old things come to the forefront again. Everything is cyclic. Nothing is forever.

Of the things someone might think to call Duck, dumb would not be one of them.

We had a thread awhile back that you started. Someone wrote an article suggesting that the US was heading for another civil war. We shot down that idea, not because there isn't division in this country, but because it's a division that is fairly homogeneous across the whole of the nation. There are divisions within our society, but not along state lines. People are divided by their ideology, and as Bubba said, by facts.

You must understand that you're poking at a very raw wound here. This goes deeper, and has been going on longer than you can know-both in this nation in general, and in these forums specifically. It's something we try to tread lightly on here, because of our past experience with this subject. This is not our first, or second, or even tenth or twentieth attempt at such a discussion. Everyone THINKS and SAYS they can be calm and discuss matters rationally, but history, and again, the entire internet, begs to differ.

Things are never as simple and straightforward as they should be.

Don´t get indignigant over such things, when I post them. You should know that it is the ONLY protest flag I could find in the Emoticon selection bar. It has nothing to do with GAY stuff when I use it. 🙂

Nice things Bubba can do. I can only imagine what ever else he is capable of. 😉

I know which thread you are talking about, but i am sure I did not started it, but it does not matter, who started what. What matters is RESPEKT. Nothing more or less.

If there will be the danger of initiating an internal GRB political and private conflict - I promise to keep my mouth and not start with anything political - for the sake of all. No problem.

The problem is rather to find a definition as today there are lots of political themes.
Almost out of everything one can make a "politicum" if he wanted to.

Well, why don't we let things cool down for awhile? I don't know how this is going to go. I don't know if anyone has come to any decisions on how they will proceed in the future. We've all been down this road before, and we know we SHOULD be able to discuss things reasonably. It just hasn't happened yet. 🙂 Let's try to have some fun for awhile before we pick our next fight. 😱

Heh, this time MY joke went over YOUR head. That's different. 🙂

I just wish some people (not you Doc) would let things from the past go. Some hold on to hatred, forever it seems, and that is not good. We disagree, we move on. That is the way it should be at least.

We can all disagree and still be friends.

We can all learn from each other and maybe see some opinions from the other side as something to think about, not bitch against.

I, for one, simply will not discuss much politics anymore. This is my way to handle it. If I comment at all it will be just that, a comment, not an argument.

    I am trying.
