I dont get into politics that much, BUT I do know that number 2 IS NOT the lesser of 2 evils. It makes my head spin how you could even think that. :shock:

Ok... I am not for either party... But most of my stance for anything is military based... I feel that Kerry is not the best person for the current issues that our country is going through.

Normally, it would not be an issue, but I think the war has written Bush a golden ticket for this election.

Round 2:

The war he started was against the wrong People!!! He dropped an unreal amount of bombs on a country that had never once attacked the US or even gave us problems. I saw the casualties of that bombing spree. Civilians, children, and residental houses. And He even said, and I quote, " Forget about Osama Bin Laden, He's gone". Bushes family and the Bin ladens have been friends for years.

This has been almost the least bloody war that our country has ever fought. Same for the Iraqis.

Farenheit 9/11 is alot of spin wrapped around a handful of facts that can be looked at in more than one way. It's about as true as watching The Daily Show.

Also, as far as Bush's vacations, during many of those he had guests like Tony Blair, Vladimir Putin... do you think they were just sittin around drinkin beer? My guess is that they were working a lot. Tell me of any other company people who go on vacation and take their whole staff with them.

Before it sounds like I'm a Bush fan, I'll go on the record and state that I'm a registered independent and voted Libertarian in the last election and will do so for this one as well.

I do however, have a particular issue with people just bashing Bush with a few facts and a lot of opinions. Congress is every bit as responsible as our president for this one.

Imma have to wake up Scott for this one. He can argue the point alot better as he is actually into politics alot more than I am.

Fact can be spun/ interpreted differently, especially when you brand it with emotional overtones over and over again.

I can say the world is a big place and you might think "Yeah thats right" but I can tell an astronomer the same thing and he'll say "You're full of shit"

While crafting this, a couple of more replies have occurred just sort of reenforcing why I try to stay out of policital discussions. People who are friends and friendly on a day to day basis can become arch-enemies when discussion deeply held beliefs such as those of a political or religious nature. Since we don't have these often here, I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents and hope that it doesn't touch off any bombs. 😀

One interesting thing about the Bush presidency is that despite having the furthest thing from a political mandate (i.e. winning the election in a landslide) he has gone about setting policies as if he holds one. Starting with the election itself it has seemed to polarize this country into generally two approximately equal parts with a small group of people in the middle who move from side to side depending on the issue. That is, on any given issue (generallizing a bit), Bush has the support of somewhere around 40-50% of the people, Kerry has the support of 40-50%, and the rest are just not sure. Looking at many of the polls, we see what could be interpreted as a statistical dead heat in the race.

I think the war is one of these issues that will be "beneficial" (only for lack of a better word) to both sides largely dependent on timing. If it continues as it is now, I think that plays to Kerry saying that he does not support the reasons that we went to war. If there is a finding of WMD, things turn around significantly, or they capture Osama (I think this is scheduled for October), then that benefits Bush.

On that note, some levity is necessary....

Yes, IMO, starting a war with Iraq was something that I saw as stupid... But what's done it done... And you have to look at who would be best to take care of the current issues... What if Kerry got into office and then pulled all of the US troops out of Iraq? What do you think would happen then? Could it cause other issues that could put us in a worse off situation then what we are in now? Dunno... But, it is something to think about...

As for F911... Sorry, when you splice too many things together that are in no way related to each other and call it the truth about one thing... I just don't get it... Or buy it... Or care to watch his OPINIONS... Cuz that's all they are... He has a lot of money to put his opinions out on the screen in hopes that others will agree with him.. But, that's one of the nice things about this country... He can do that... It is up to the viewers to really look at it and see where he is getting his fact and how he is presenting them...

Farenshmack 911 is not a documentary its Mikey Moores socialist views and propaganda.

Case in point. The part of the movie that dealt with the death penalty in Texas....
I watched an interview with the guy that they talked with from the prison. His job was to console the victims families during executions. and they asked him to do an interview for a documentary that was to air on the discovery channel, he accepted the offer thinking it was just a run of the mill documentary. They met him at a restaurant for the interview, and ordered beer and had it sitting on the table to look like he drinks during working hours. He doesn't even drink... Then while the execution was going on and he was with the family, they paraded by the prison with cheerleaders and a band. and paid people to sit in lawnchairs and eat food and make it look like that is a Texan pastime. The guy caught up with Moore down the road as they were all getting into their vehicles, and asked him what was going on, Moore just threw him a jersey with the guys name that was executed on it and told him that this was his kind of documentary.

This guy has his agenda and this movie was part of it.

As far as Bush and his handling of the middle east. Was he the first person to say that Iraq was a threat to the US? He was going on the same information that the Clinton administration had been privy to. The information may have been flawed but at least he had the balls to act on it. The facts remain that Saddam did use chemical weapons on his people and during the Iran/Iraq war. He was actively seeking radioactive weapons with Africa. and if you are not up to something, you don't kick inspectors out of the country 🙂 It just doesn't look right to the world. Yeah he may be a cowboy, and not that articulate 😉 but when he finally get out what he is trying to say, he stands by it.

BTW the bin-laden family are also friends with the Clinton's and with Nancy Reagan. The family is a wealthy construction company family. with one bad seed. They do not support Ossama and have cut him off along time ago.

I am not a republican and i am not a democrat, but here are just a few points i would like to add:
(Sources available if requested by the way)

1. If the 13 year olds turn 14 this year, then they will be 18 before the next presidential term is up, so they could be serving in our armed forces, or even drafted into a war, before they get to cast a vote for president.

2. In a country where nearly half of the people who are eligible to vote don't bother to show up on election day, any interest in politics is good, even if it is kids talking to bots.

3. If i were to base my vote mainly on a military stance, then i would choose the man who enlisted in the Navy and volunteered for combat in Vietnam, where he earned a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts. Not to mention he also became a prominent anti-war activist when he returned home, and helped to organize protests against a war he felt was immoral and unjust. I would not choose the man who, while serving in the Alabama National Guard, according to his commanding officer, never showed up for duty. Not to mention the fact he was suspended from flying in the Texas Air National Guard for failing to take his annual medical exam. I would think that the man who saw combat in Vietnam would be more qualified to lead us through the current issues that our country is facing than the self-proclaimed, "War President."

4. I would not think that this war has written Bush a golden ticket for this election. In a recent poll, 54% said it was a mistake to send U.S. troops to Iraq, compared with 41% who expressed that sentiment in early June. 55% also said they don't believe the war has made the United States safer from terrorism. Looking at the presidential race, the poll found a tie among voters: 49% for Bush and 48% for Kerry. Kerry also gets higher ratings on who would better handle the economy: 53% of respondents picked Kerry, while only 40% selected Bush. Kerry is also scoring against Bush elsewhere as well, running ahead in trust to handle five of nine issues tested in another poll, from taxes to education to health care; Bush doesn't lead significantly in any of them. And personally, while Americans broadly see Bush as more consistent, they see Kerry as more honest and trustworthy, by a 13-point margin, and more in touch with their problems, by 20 points. People who say Iraq is their most important issue pick Kerry over Bush in trust to handle it by nearly a 2-1 margin, 60 percent to 32 percent. Perhaps a golden ticket back to Crawford is more likely?

5. What if Kerry got into office and then pulled all of the US troops out of Iraq? What do you think would happen then? Kerry states, "We may have differences about how we went into Iraq, but we do not have the choice just to pick up and leave—and leave behind a failed state and a new haven for terrorists. I believe that failure is not an option in Iraq." He went on to say, "...if our commanders believe they need more American troops, they should say so and they should get them."

6. As for the 56+ deceits from Fahrenheit 9/11, yes, most of these points are valid and well linked, yet some are against Michael Moore's opinions, which he is entitled to have in his movie. 7. There is no segment of Fahrenheit 9/11 dealing with the death penalty in Texas. I believe you are referring to a segment of The Awful Truth with Michael Moore, (Season 2, Episode 2) which was aired in the year 2000. Michael Moore does not appear in this segment, and he was not in Texas when it was filmed. The correspondent who interviewed the man from the prison was Jay Martel. This interview does not take place in a restaurant, it takes place on a public street, and there is no beer involved.

Once again i am not a republican and i am not a democrat. I am a part of the MAJORITY of Americans who, in the past, have chosen either not to vote, or vote for 3rd party candidates. It is this mostly silent majority that Fahrenheit 9/11 is aimed towards. If Fahrenheit 9/11 can inspire people to go to the polls, one way or the other, then it is well worth the hype, criticism, and acclaim it has received.

I am not pro-Kerry. I am anti-Bush.

I see your points, but you do realize Kerry has voted for many major senate bills cutting funding to our intelligense services right? If 9/11 has taught us anything it's that our intel is in very bad shape.

Kerry has also been against many bills increasing funding to the military for new equipment/ soldier pay.

I agree with the criticisms of Bush, but the War President thing he has going for him still works out better than someone who has a proven record of trying to diminish our armed forces.

You don't really know why Kerry voted against those bills, you also don't know what was attached to those bills. It is general practice to add a pay raise or other political agenda to financing bills which would negate the entire intention of the bill.

There's alot of "don't know why's" in the Bush era also, maybe we are in Iraq for damn good reasons that the public is not fully aware of. Doubtful, but the argument can easily be moved both ways.

The bottom line is the bottom line though. Kerry has voted to cut funding for Intel nearly if not every time.
