Remember when I pointed out that Obama and Biden were in bed with the **AA's?

They are seizing domains via ICann. In some of the cases, the sites only linked to other sites that hosted illegal content. It has already been established through the courts that linking to illegal content is not in itself illegal, yet the executive branch took it upon themselves to take the websites down through the worst possible way, taking control of the domain name.

In the article it was pointed out that a torrent search engine was taken down. It would only show you where torrents were on other websites, something that can also be done through Google and Bing. You think they will take those sites down?

Sorry, I'm tired of our rights being trampled by the government. This is just another in a long list.....

I am shocked that ICANN would bow to the US government. Sad and scary.

Remember, ICann is controlled by the US government. The EU saw something like this coming and they tried to make the US give up control in favor of a more international ICann, but the US wouldn't do it.

I had no idea that ICANN was US based... I thought it was independent. DOH!

All this really does is push the sites further underground. I mean, as long as it has an IP and is in a host friendly country like Switzerland, then they won't be able to stop it.

The thing that really bothers me about this is they are also going after websites that sell counterfeit products. That in itself I can understand, but they have also shut down websites that show products from Ebay because the manufacturer has claimed they are counterfeit. When the real problem is they don't want people on Ebay competing with their high prices. This hits close to home because I have sites like this and I've talked to others who have been turned over to the police to have their sites seized for doing nothing more than showing an Ebay listing. Do you think they go after Ebay? Nope. Just the little guys who aren't actually doing anything. It gives some cop a box to check off on his annual review.
