Photoshop comes with a program called Image Ready. It does a lot of animation stuff. I knew you don't use Photoshop, but Image Ready is really cool. Maybe you could start with Image Ready, get use to it, then learn more about Photoshop.
I use Gif Construction Set myself, but I found Image Ready, while hard to use, did a better job of image compression.
I draw everything on flash cards and then hide them in my pocket and show them to you in sequence as fast as I possibly can. I move so fast that it looks like I'm just standing in front of you, masturbating with a twisted grin, but I'm really showcasing my animation talents. It helps me get more FPS if I imagine pictures of the Teletubbies, but a constant, direct eye-contact with you will also work.
Who wants to see my latest work?
I've always had success with PS/IR for gifs. It compresses fine and is "sort" of easy to stumble through. It gets a little weird as to what changes go global across all frames and which are specific to that frame sometimes, but for the most part it's self-explanatory.
How many artists are in this house anyway? I have some crap at www.hitpawz.com if you wanna see it. Nothing spectacular and most of it is more than a few years old. I'll have to dig through some concept art I did for Half Life Nightwatch to show a bit more of my recent style.
Sweet, I did that for years. Made a ton of money at it too. Most I was ever paid for one job was the heart you see on the site. That was about 40 hours and $12k. Each additional version was $500. The Nvidia/Dell one was like $3k and a card and the AMD was like an $8k pre-built system that I'm still running 🙂 It WAS top of the line, now it's equivalent to the front of a refrigerator. Of course, taxes during those years put me near bankruptcy because I'm an idiot. So now I don't freelance anymore to save that hassle.
Yeah, that's some good stuff from Raze. I like that he threw in some Ninja Turtle artwork. God I love those guys. I can't wait for the CG movie that's supposed to be dark, violent and R-rated. Until then, I'll just keep avoiding the new gay cartoon. Ok, it has it's moments, but it's weak.
What's with cartoons these days breaking down into obvious pixelation? I mean, I know that they're 90% done on the computer now, but can't they at least get the lines clean at 640 reso?
This is something that I read about 2 or 3 years ago and has been in production forever. It could have been scrapped by now or never was. I so want it to come out. Apparently, it's supposed to have a 50 million dollar budget and is being done by one of the "premiere" studios. Supposed to be the end-all depiction of the Turtles. If they even come close to what my idea of an awesome TMNT movie is, it's gonna be the best thing we've ever seen.
Am I the only one that thought the first live action movie kicked ass?
Awesome. I had a buddy, Gene, who used to have his entire wall completely covered in action figures. It was all video game related and I swear you can name it and there's a good chance he had it.
This is the only kinda artwork I do nowdays, although it's not really art, and I didn't really make it, I just kinda did stuff to make the cells glow and took pictures of them.
Well since everyone is throwing their art up here 😉 Just thought I would run this one by you guys before I sent it to the guy that needs it for the American journal of medicine. I have 2 scans and I was wondering which I should send, I darkened one in PSP.
That's nice stuff. As a professional illustrator, I would submit the lighter one and perhaps provide the darker as reference. I find it more cohesive and visually pleasing.
Perhaps you have an agreement with your client, but I should warn you that they may want that signature removed.
I have never run into any of my clients wanting me to remove the sig. They didn't even crop it out for the 2 American Urology Journal entries that have 7 illustrations between the two.
Hitpawz, you have some sweet shizbit on your page. I am impressed. very nice.
Hey thanks man. I appreciate that. Most of it is pretty darn old stuff. You'll find a lot of stuff relating to Capcom and I want to make sure nobody thinks I'm a loser fan boy. 🙂 I worked there at the time I did those. Nothing was for the company, but I was trying to get things that would be put into the magazines. The color one of the Nemesis from Re3 was supposed to be on the cover of Game Informer one year as they paid me $1200 to do it. But Capcom Japan rolled in and said they'd pull the article if they didn't use the official artwork. Kinda why I quit. LOL! Shut up Akaiian, yes I was fired. Who do you think decided that was going to happen? COUGH COUGH!
Oh, and I mentioned the sig thing completely oblivious to the fact that you said it was for a journal. I've never seen it be an issue then. All of the medical illustrations I've done were for advertising and marketing, so it's different. I don't mind losing my sig on those when they pay $12k for one 30hr picture 🙂 Thank God 9/11 obliterated the economy or I might have enough money for a stick of frigging gum by now.
I did some stuff for a team working on a Half Life mod called Nightwatch. I don't know if that ever released as I left before it completed. I was out of work for about a year and didn't really have the capacity to work on it. Mentally, and time-wise. But these are a little bit closer to my current style. Hehe, I'm sort of over the whole Americanime thing I used for years. All of these below are just over a year old, but they're still my latest. I haven't really drawn anything in the past year.
Well, I'm pretty serious about redoing all of the skins into zombies. You know, ripped clothes into skeletons with rotten meat types of things. See the teeth through the cheek and all. If anybody is interested in other aspects, perhaps custom models, I'd so be down to do a mod. Whatever the theme, I'll help with the 2D side of it. I'm pretty good with 3D, but it drives me crazy so I avoid it. But I DO know pretty much all of the rules and limitations and how to set up the artwork for you. Any theme would be cool as I was sorta thinking that a spahgetti western with a midnight twist would be pretty awesome. Horse and cart vehicles. Train heists. Show downs. Know what I'm saying? Could be fun. I'm up for any theme though.
That is an awesome idea. A Western Mod. There is so much stuff you culd do with that idea. Gotta have cactuses, and they have to hurt if you touch em.
