For those of you who love to read about space and the human spirit's ability to overcome obsticles, this is a great read.

Start at the bottom and read up.

    http://spaceblog.xprize.org/

Anousheh Ansari is an Iranian Born, now American Citizen. I forget which business she is in, but it has made her quite wealthy. She donated a lot of money to the X-Prize also known as the Ansari X-Prize. This was the prize that made SpaceShip one push to be the first private SpaceShip in space.

Anyway, that's a bit of background on her in case you didn't know. The blog's the next best thing to actually being there.

I didn't read the whole thing yet, but I will. We have been having alot of radio advertisements here for a launching contest that they will be having in New Mexico soon. I think that the x-prize contest is awesome, going to the people instead of just major corporations.

Isn't it Armadillo Space or something like that in New Mexico? One of the founders is one of the Quake/iD guys. I think it's awesome and I hope we continue to see innovation like this.

Anyway, I really enjoyed reading her blog. It's as close as I'll ever get to space. :-)

    Sindy,

I picked up a copy of Popular Science and it had an article on the event you were talking about. It is one of the XPrize events. This time, they have to launch up so many feet, hover for x amount of time, move over x amout of feet and land within a defined area with rocky terrain.

There are a couple of smaller one's as well. And I was right, John Carmack, of Quake Fame, has an entry in this contest with his Armadillo Space company. It was a cool read.

I am going to have to check that out. Now the real question is, when is team GRB forming?

When GR is bought for 1 Billion Dollars....

    Oh man, I wish.....

one BILLION dollars.... (Dr. Evil laugh)

That's cool that they are taking it up a notch, not only having to launch. But, then manuever around as well. Maybe they will broadcast it on the internet somewhere. Would be neat to see. 🙂

I hope they do a discovery special like they did with SpaceShip One. I watched that thing 3 times.
