I mean, I'm all for rereleasing the same exact thing with an altered 5.3 seconds of footage to be sold at full price to the unsuspecting public, but come on. One day, just one, Lucas will toy with the idea of making something new and stop clinging to this dead cause that he's done nothing but completely obliterate since he's picked the project back up. It was good then, its sucks now. He's making the then suck ass too so I axk you guys what's left to like here? I can't wait for the 50 million versions of THX369. Especially the one where they digitally give the characters hairstyles like Vanilla Ice to better relate it to today's youth. Next there will be a deal with Speilburg to redo the Indiana Jones movies to digitally replace the Nazi's with Al Queda. The next proposed change will be in the Empire Strikes back when they digitally change the blood on Luke's face in the Hoth cave, where he's upsidedown, into Barbeque sauce. Since it's similar in tone to the original blood, what they've done is included a bouncing banner with a pointer arrow and text that flashes "Not to be confused with blood". And when they slice open the Whompa, instead of guts coming out, I heard they're making it spit out candy and prizes for the kids.

I can go on and on and on with this because the laughable material just keeps coming.

There's only one person who is a bigger scumbag than Lucas in my book and that's Shamallamadingdong and even he's already produced more unique material.

But the most noticeable change -- and perhaps one some \"Star Wars\" diehards will have a tough time stomaching -- is Hayden Christensen (who plays young Anakin in the prequel trilogy) now appearing in the scene where the \"force ghosts\" of Anakin, Obi Wan, and Yoda smile at Luke. One thing's for sure, there's plenty for fans to debate -- that is, until the trilogy comes out yet again on another format in the future and Mr. Lucas makes his inevitable changes

    Umm... Stupid... pfft...

I was just looking at some of the changes. I don't know, I like the ones below:

In the article I read, Lucas said he was ready to move on to something unique, something that he felt was worth doing, even if it didn't make a single penny.

As for the DVD's, the fans asked for it, so they got it. I see nothing wrong with that.

Don't confuse big business marketing with the desires of the creative mind behind the event.

Well Atomm, 20 something years of absolutely nothing original will dictate how that pans out. Perhaps he will salvage it or whatnot, but I think that you said it yourself that he's bleeding the public dry for every penny he can squeeze from their pockets. That and he obviously thinks the series is way too good. If doing that release is from fans requesting something of that nature, god only knows how that solidifies my view of most of the fans.

I love Aliens. I love the movie more than anything else that has ever been put onto film. Everything about it is my dream, but I'm content with it the way it is and while it did, in fact, have one rerelease with extra footage, it was only one. However, I felt the original was better in not revealing the alien ship or the aliens themselves prior to the Marines showing up. It was more suspensful, but the original story and comic book had that scene within it, so I forgave.

What Lucas is doing is absurd. He's redoing the effects time and time again, hoping that it will rekindle interest in a tired ass set of movies that was old news over 20 years ago. We already saw an updated Jabba, but he now thinks it looks bad? I didn't mind how it looked too much. He was a bit green, if I remember, but he looked decent enough. What are they adding? Normal maps? Collision detection? I mean Christ, who cares? Replacing the actor in the ghost image is as insulting to that original actor as replacing the lead in Seven Samurai with Tom Cruise. Or overwriting the whole entire original Ocean's 11 with the new squad's digital heads.

I just saw the commercial saying that it's coming out tomorrow. What's funny is that they didn't show any of the new stuff. I think that might be because if they showed more than 3 seconds of it, the only reason left to buy it would be the one frame that they didn't show in the commercial.

You know you are 100% correct; however, it doesn't matter I will be buying it on DVD tomorrow!

I'm going to retract most of what I said here. I'm so confused. My main source of irritation with this product was an assumption that this was like the 3rd or 4th release of the series on DVD. My friend swore up and down to me that this was the very 1st time. I'm floored. I canNOT believe that, but I cannot find any other version on DVD. LOL! I'm not sure where or when I thought it had been released, I suppose I got confused with the VHS versions or something. Sorry to the fans, I was wrong.

NOW! I still hate the changes they made. The Jabba thing is ok, but replacing the actor in the ghost image is perhaps the single most trashy, insulting move I have ever seen. It's the same as digitally replacing the headmaster wizard in the first Harry Potter movies so that the newer movies will have continuity which can't come from a dead actor. That, or they should rerelease the first 2 matrix movies with a Kung Pow type effect of the new Oracle actress, completely removing and negating that person's achievment.
