Its a beautiful town and the people there are great. My cousin who is 4 months older than me, lived and worked there for 4 years for a top 5 accounting firm and I used to visit at least once a year. The biggest difference is going to be the humidity and mosquitos but besides that I think you'll find alot of peeps with the same interests (and political views)as yourself. :wink: Good Luck Bro!
Very nice place. I have many friends that live there and have lived there for about 7 years myself. Lots to do. Close to the beach if you are into that.

I haven't said anything publicly, but it looks like my job may be going away. With the state of work in OK being what it is, I may have no choice but to start looking in Big D. I would prefer Phoenix, but it would be easier to move to Dallas.
I have a way around the whole local canidates only thing. My grandfather lives in Dallas, so I can use his address. Then, I'll set up an Dallas based Internet VOIP phone number via Vonage and it looks like I am local, but the calls are routed to me in OKC. :-) Every little trick I can think of to get considered.

Sux about the job, although if a company you are applying to finds out you set up a voip, they may consider you more. ;-)
ok if moving to dallas i suggest living in either Allen or Frisco. Both are nice towns in the northern suburbs of dallas. they are booming right now and the areas are very nice, housing is very nice, schools (if you have kids) are great. cost of living isnt too bad compared to the rest of the dallas area.you would have 3 major highways to get from the north side down into dallas, but all 3 can be jammed up in rush hour, so that doesnt really matter then. i'm from dallas so i'm a bit biased i guess.
I agree with Borton. Allen is one of the places we considered the last time I was in a layoff situation. I want to stay North, if for no other reason, but to cut an hour off of my trip back to Oklahoma to see the family. :-)
Raze, you know that if something happens to us SA's, you've got at least one more year on us. He's modest about what he does, but he does some very important stuff that saves us a lot of time managing our desktops. That alone will buy him some time.
I just wish I could figure out how to get my CCNP before it all goes down. Oh well....

Mike, I don't have enough time on weekends to look for those. Even if I did have time, I don't handle rejection very well and figure the best way to avoid that is to stay single. Besides, I don't have to beg anyone if I want to play games online, go to gunshows, tittie bars, or other places that guys like to go to!

It's in August. I gotta start saving up some vacation time because this time I want to be there for the whole event. I've even wondered what it would be like to do some live broadcasts from there. Not sure if I want to drag all that equipment, but if I lived there, it might not be so bad.
I'm trying to get an interview for a internal job in Dallas. It's a long, long shot, but I really want the position. I can only hope.....
Cost of living in Charlotte is alot less than Dallas, unless you do like Borton said and move outside and commute.
Dallas is rapidly getting very expensive. I have 2 bosses who worked in biotech there and that was their biggest complaint. I have one friend whos an EE in Charlotte and he loves it.
I think the biggest thing about Dallas is where you live and how far is it from work? Housing prices are all over the place. I've seen better deals than OKC in nice areas and I've seen places a lot higher than our high end places. I've always been under the impression that North Dallas wasn't so bad.
Something must be going right in Dallas. It is the #1 city in the country for new homes being built. Still, personally, I would rather live in Phoenix and I know it's more expensive than Dallas or OKC.
Last time I was in Dallas, Gas was cheaper than OKC. :-)
