"Drew over at TV Jab sent me a link from AICN that talks about a “VERY COOL” commercial that is supposed to air tonight during the 3 hour AFI 100 Years/100 Movies special. Apparently this thing is so cool we’re supposed to wet ourselves."

I agree with the opinion of this guy at the end of the article. It's "Blade Runner."

I was going to post about this yesterday. I KNOW they're going to release a new "Blade Runner" disk, and I also KNOW they've shot NEW FOOTAGE for this! No shit, 25 years later, they've shot new footage to add into "Blade Runner"!!!

It's damn near a perfect movie already (in BOTH it's incarnations, for different reasons), and I'm REAL interested to see what they've done to it. Perhaps they're going to clean up the mystery of the unaccounted for replicant. . .maybe they'll clear up whether or not Deckard is a replicant (I hope not).

I'll HAVE to get it though, unless they replace guns with walkie-talkies and make Zhora shoot first!

This will probably hurt my geek cred, but I never paid this much attention. It may have something to do with my age at the time....

I was ~17 by the time it hit HBO, which is where I first saw it.

It's FANTASTIC. The fx stand up well, considering their age, and the immersive world they created was unlike anything that had come before. In turns beautiful and dystopic, it influenced every sci-fi film to follow. It seems as though every actor in the film put in a great performance, and was perfectly cast. While there were arguably some flaws, it would be on my top-100 films of all-time list - and on other people's list, as well.

"Minority report", which came out just a few years ago, is also another Phillip K. Dick story translated to the big-screen. I think they did a great job with that one, but "Blade-Runner" still tops it.

Yup, "Blade Runner: Final Cut" coming in the Fall.

If they released this at the theaters, I'd go see it again (I saw the Director's Cut theatrical release.)

Cool. Another one to add to my DVDs to purchase list.

I don't believe that they can tell you whether or not Deckard is a Replicant. If my memory of the book is correct, it's never clear so anything in the movie would be speculations afaik. The book is "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and is an excellent read. Not as paranoid as most of PKDs work but very good nonetheless.

You know the version I want. I will never get that. One of my all time fav movies for sure and I will get the new one of course 😉

Wonder if they'll add Intel ads to milk it further 🙂

Forget where I got it. The original's much bigger. It may end up in a SIG at some point.
