So my boss and I do our weekly CompUSA run to get supplies etc.. Discovered that the one local to us is one on the list.

About the only good thing is keep an eye out for your local one because if they are closing they will be selling stuff of cheaper and cheaper in the next month. Ours will probably be open the next 60 days.

He said they will be selling off EVERYTHING wall to wall and he means EVERYTHING. he even said you can put your name in the box to buy shelving.. Sheesh!

Just remember though everything you get is a final sale.

CompUSA is closing 128 of 229 stores, a source familiar with the proceedings tells The Consumerist.

A liquidator, Gordon Brothers Group, the same used for Good Guys, will take over tomorrow, Wednesday 2/28, he says.

A company insider also tells us that says the closed stores will be ones with a high monthly rent and will include locations on the East Coast, West Coast, and in the Chicago and Atlanta areas.

Stores being closed were informed via conference call with headquarters around 3pm eastern time today. — BEN POPKEN

I guess we can stop by best Buy and Circuit City but it was nice as we knew all the CompUSA people. it was more fun gong there. best Buy is a great store but we do not know anyone there and it just won't be the same <sniff>

Of course I may be losing my job anyway so it really may not matter. Even if I don't out budget will probably be getting cut to pieces so our runs will be less stuff anyway.

Things are just sh*&^y right now <sigh>

I'm glad I didn't take that network job at CompUSA's headquarters here in Dallas.... ;-)

What about the one over in Robinson township near the airport? Couple of miles more driving, but would beat Best for your needs.

That one is staying open for now. The consensus is though that it is not doing great so may just be a matter of time.

That is too far to drive for us. We will just get stuff at another store.
