    There was an alignment in the early 1980's that got me to drag out my 60mm refractor in the cold. In case you're wondering, it turns out the planets don't really look any different through a telescope at that time then they do normally. 🙂

    I happened to catch it by accident. I was driving home and it was just about dusk. I saw a triangle being formed by the moon and two bright dots. From some of the other stuff Doc has posted about astronomy, I knew immediately that I was looking at planets.

    I thought it was very cool.

    Think I remember st like - how easy it can be to get a grip on astronomy - !!!
