    I've been Windows free on my laptop now for a month now. Almost everything worked out of the box but wireless and there was a very discriptive howto on getting that to work which i did first try. I've even gotten my work's sslvpn product to open ports so i can RDC my work desktop for my virtual days. Not much i can't do at this point. Only thing i have issue with at this point is graphics. I don't much like gimp. Photoshop is my preference. I did get Wine installed and was running photoshop CS2 for a day and quit working afterwards. Don't know what happened there. I haven't had to make any graphics in a while so i haven't given it a second go yet.

    Very cool... For graphics, I understand your pain but now I even use Gimp in Windows to keep myself away from photoshop...

    But, away from that, I assume that the laptop is your work machine. The way I have my world setup is Linux = work, Windows = play. So I have my main linux work machine and then my windows gaming machine...

    I have played WoW in Linux with Cedega [sp?], but other then that I have not tried any other games.

    I remember when you were a little linux pup, barely scooting along. :tear:

    I hate gimp as well, but I believe someone mentioned an alternative called gimpshop. It rearranges gimp to look and feel more like photoshop. You might try that out.

    Raze, in a pinch, you could always install VMWare and run windows inside that. The next version of VMWare has a feature that will let you run the programs from the VM as stand alone on the Linux side.

    I, unfortunately have to do the opposite, My critical pieces of software are Windows only thus far. I am asking for a Debian ports, we'll see maybe someday. So for now Linux just won't fit the bill.

    I am looking at getting an Ibook and running OS X and Ubuntu as a fun machine. But between gaming and work my machine si stuck at Windows. I have done a stack of dual boots, but the reality is that I boot the Windows

    At work I Virtual Box so I have a VM of every OS under the sun at the touch of a button for those picky issues where they are more easily solved in a different OS.

    I actually had WOW running under wine. But i'll look into the gimpshop but i'm pretty spoiled with photoshop. BTW after about 3 months of messing around with different flavors i found Ubuntu the most stable for me. I even installed fusion.. pretty cool.

    And to think I couldn't even talk you into it for over a year of my ravings. Ubuntu is nice.

    It's not that. I just have a specific requirement for Red Hat on the server. Anything else, I've been using Ubuntu since Virginia. I even have 3 Ubuntu VM's at work just to play with.

    Yeah my mailserver is Windows, Mac or Redhat, I am waiting for a Debain or Ubuntu version.

    Man, all these programs with the same name are driving me nuts.
