Atomm knows a little about my driving distances that I do, but to make a long story short, I have a Chevy Trailblazer EXT that is 1.5 years old now with 40,000 miles on it. So, buying an exteneded warranty on my vehicles is a given for me.
Yesterday my vehicle started acting up on me, to the point that I was uncertain that it would make it to the city to my normal chevy service shop. So, I took it to the one out by me that is closer. That is where I made a mistake.
The big chevy places in town offer a 3rd party warranty, (which I am still uncertain it being 3rd party) cause it is suppose to have better coverage than the GM extended. The closer "country" dealership, that is suppose to "serve you in a better way" -slogan does not honor anything but the GM extended, because they don't deal with the hassle of the others. Nice of them to tell me after I already had $70 worth of work done. I paid them off and proceeded to "limp" my vehicle to my regular dealership service shop near work.
I, again, mention that my 36k was overwith and I was now on extended. I mentioned the other dealership and he told me they've heard that before about smaller dealerships, he said it was crazy that they do this and that they really only do this because you did not buy the car there.
Moral of the story, if you do get an extended warrenty, make sure it is good where ever you may take your car.
