outside temps reached no higher than 63 here in Norman Today. I too was trying to wait on the heater. but I must admit I wimped out. still shutting it off overnight, though. after all, that's what blankets are for.
I was out shopping with my wife in a t shirt on Sat and I am not sure it was 50 out. :-) Always thought one of those polar bear swims would be fun though
But you guys need to remember in Oklahoma and West Texas, it may be 50 or 60, but there is almost always a 15+ mph wind with that.
Yea, it's been in the 50's here in Virginia, but 50 here with little to no wind is not the same as 50's in Oklahoma with a constant cold blowing in your face at 15+ mph.
That is one thing I love about the weather here. The lack of wind makes a huge difference on how cold it "feels".
Good point about the "wind chill factor". Never a day in the winter down here without it, because we have no trees to block it... 🙁 Mesquite bushes just aren't quite the same...
That is freakin funny!!! where did you get that??? hahahahhahahahahaha!!
Actually, I didn't mean to sound like I was sad about it. Personally I don't even own a coat... The closest thing I have is just a jacket. I like to laugh at all the other ppl that are bundled up like it's really cold. 😄 The only thing I was sad about is that we don't have trees...
It's in the full list of smilies down near the bottom some where. It was directed at Atomm's post as well.
When I was a boy I remember walking to school in the snow(uphill of course - both ways) with it being -20 not including the windchill. We didn't have any of these fancy snow hats, mittens, and parkas. We had burlap sacks that we cut holes in for our head and arms AND WE LIKED IT!
On a truer note when I was a little girl we didn't have such fancy thangs as awto-mo-beels. My maw would make me up git up at 3 am so that i could get start gittin ready fer skool. We lived a fer piece out in the county and it sure would take them goats we was ridin a long time to cover that much ground....

How come in the summer you never hear of that nasty wind heat factor. 🙂
Yup I'll take New England, even with the cold. I used to have a husky who would lay down in snowstorms and the snow would just pile over him. He would have 2-3" of snow on him and you'd just see his blinking eyes. You'd feel bad for him thinking he must be freezing so you'd bring him inside and he'd whine until you let him back out. I sometimes feel like him as I get older.
consider my perspective, though... not just the wind chill. consider the day before was in the 80's. I adjust, but I don't adjust that fast. And for the record I lvoe the winter, but when it snapps like that. Just hits me fairly solid. especially when I'm in my house. outside I expect it to be chilli.

Why don't you buy a small heater for your room man? I have had my furnace on for about a month now. It has not run too much but there have been a few very cold nights, especially this past week, that it has turned on.
I HATE being cold and do not take it very well. I get colder than most people do it seems. it is weird, a lot of times I am cold and others are not. This is more common. Sometimes I am fine and others are cold, this is always weird....
weenees... (i know that's not how that's spelled. 😛 )
Winter is the BEST!!! I love it!
Anyway, I do know this: If you are on blood pressure medication it has a tendency to make you cold. My mother has never been one to be cold until she started taking BP medication. Now if it's under 70 outside she's freeeeeeeeeeeezing. I have to laugh at her, it wouldn't be right not too. 😄

I hear about it all the time actually. I had a contact almost melt to my eye once going to work in Havasu with the window down. 120+ degrees and wind = bad 🙁
on a side note, my wussy AZ self had the heater on 2 weeks ago 😕

K, just wanted to share! 😀 🎉
Holy Poop... we haven't even had snow yet. HOW CAN THIS BE????
As I figured... it's all gone now. We had beautiful big fat flakes and now they're all melted.. 🙁 In true Texas fashion, I will probably have the AC on in the car on the way home!
