Opus, the remnants of what was once Outland, which in turn was once Bloom County, is but two weeks from the final publication of new material. Luckily, the fickle creator of the strips(s), he of the unlikely moniker Berkley Breathed, has prepped me by seemingly capriciously ending the previous two strips, thus hardening me against the inevitable.
This strip warped my mind at an impressionable age, and has left me saying such things as, "Pear pimples for hairy fishnuts" and,"Gorbachev Sings Tractors: Turnip! Buttocks!" to this day. These obscure but hilarious sayings that might have endeared and bonded me to 0.001% of the population had they but heard, instead ostracized me to 100% of the people I met, what with the reality of odds being what they are. Still, I bear Berke no ill will, and instead thank him for the 28-years of mostly hilarious, always endearing strips. . .especially for the Bloom County strips which so informed my adolescence. Thanks for the giggles.
Here is a link to the beginning of the end for Opus, if you care to follow it's final weeks.

The author's rendition of Bill the Cat And Opus' Presidential Election Campaign, as seen through the eyes of a teenager and recreated on mid-1980's technology. Bill, here, is a former missionary, and Opus is studying to be the Pope.
The author's conception of the Olive-Loaf Vigilante, also created on mid-1980's computer tech.
