Free games needed

    My mother wants something to do, so I'm loading up my old computer with some games for her. Unfortunately, she's not up for FPS's, so I need some suggestions for simple PC games that will run on 7-year-old machines.

    I'm gonna see if Bejeweled 2 can run on it. I'm looking for simple, straightforward games like Mah Jong, Solitaire, etc.

    I'm looking for them myself, but I figured I'd take advantage of your collective knowledge. . .plus, it's real hard to find simple freeware games that aren't actually crippled shareware, or loaded with adware, etc. And, worse, it's hard to tell one from another until you actually INSTALL them.

    I'll show her the built-in windows games of course, I'm but looking to explore all options.

    you can always fall back on MAME type games with the different emulators out there they run better on P2s than P4s due to processor speeds. You have to really crank back some of the oldie/goodies of the console.

    The old abandonware sites became a plague about 3 years ago that I used to frequent.. were fairly clean then all of the sudden insta-pc doom. Not saying you still can't find some sites that are quality/clean though rarely the two combined.


    Otherwise I would say latch onto a Java Player and snag all these games Atomm has if you are looking for low-bit games.

    Pac and Ms Pacman were a hit with my mother. That should be easy to find for any PC model.

    There's also all those flash games Atomm has on the front webpage too.

    Peggle extreme demo on Steam was great, and word games like BookWorm would be more.

    Thanks for the suggestions, folks. If it's "Arcadey", she probably won't like it. I'm thinking more like electronic versions of conventional card and board games. Something she already understands, so that figuring out how to play it via computer will be easier. She can't even figure out what to do when the TV and cable box get out of sequence and the remote is turning one off when the other is going on, and vice-versa. She's REALLY not tech-oriented.

    I figure something like Bejeweled would work though. Simple premise, addictive game, and I already have it. Bookworm might be good as well, but I don't think it's free. The games should be free, as I expect this to last about five minutes before she gives up in frustration. The computer will not be connected to the Internet at first, until I find a 50' cable and dig up my old router.

    Thanks Doc. You HAVE to show her, cause the transformation is key. Sides' thats one of the things I loved about Lexx, they used ALOT of ugly ass people 🙂
