Hey guys you might have heard the ice storm that hit up here. Basically when it hit Thursday night it knocked out power for almost everyone in NH, 400,000 home (our population is near 2Mil). I know I am without power and they are estimating we'll get it back next Friday. I don't know Sarges situation though I am going to run by his house this afternoon if I can get there.

So we are out for now.

    Here are some pics

I did not follow ur guys weather news.
Man, that is hard without electricity and icy roads and the wind sux too.

    Take care.
If u make it up to Sarge, the same for him and his family.

    That is no good Bubba.

Hopefully you guys get some good repair crews up their soon and all is set straight. When our power was knocked out down here all we had to deal with is a crapload of heat, you get all the pleasure of no power with a boatload of cold included.

Might I suggest some S'more time.

Hope you guys get thu this with a minimum of grief. Watch those water pipes don't burst with the power out!

I have to say I don't miss the northern winters.

Hmm, I replied in a diff thread. I figured something was up when neither of you were on Thurs.

From what I've read you need new infrastructure. At least there should be plenty of firewood laying around. Hope ya have wood burners cause its gonna get cooooold.

    Stay warm guys.

Look at it this way guys, your meat won't go bad.
Was in Mass for the bizzadh' of '78 and in Maine for the last mongo ice storm you (we) had in the early 90's
    No fun.

See ya' when the lights come on.

I just got off the phone with one of our vendors from NH. I didn't even know this happened until he brought it up.

He said it was suppose to be a high of 40, so hopefully this stuff will melt away soon.

Can you believe it was 28 in Dallas this morning? I've heard the high isn't going to be much higher than 32. I hope we don't get rain or else we are going to look like that too.

I am back online. Since I am working remotely today I haven't heard from Sarge yet. I will call the office for an update. I suspect he isnt' working or he would have posted.

    Thanks for all your concern.

As of this afternoon I am still without power at the house (I'm at work right now). We have a generator that we got from my brother-in-law on Saturday afternoon, but Friday night was mighty cold (mid-40's in the house). Since then we've been warm and semi-powered. Have not tried to run the PC or the internet off the generator however. Should be back up by Wednesday, but I'm hoping today. We seem to be one of the last neighborhoods in town to get power back 🙁

Thanks for the thoughts everyone, I appreciate it 😀

Glad to know you guys are OK, and have a way to keep warm. Looks like we have an "Ice Storm" heading OUR way now. I'm not gonna be out driving in it (took care of the grocery run already), and we haven't been below freezing long enough for it to really take hold and cause extended ice problems. The one thing that might be an issue is ice freezing on power/telephone/cable lines, so we might get some outages.

This town panics every time the weather gets a little bit rough. They're not used to it.

One thing that puzzles me is how the ppl around here don't dress for the weather. Being from PA, I have a hooded sweatshirt, a medium jacket, a heavy jacket, and a jacket that's not too far off being useful in a polar expedition. I always have at least two jackets and a zip-up hooded sweatshirt. It seems like, in this town, ppl run around in normal clothes(run being the operative word here, as they hurry to-and-from their cars) until it hits like 40 degrees, then they start wearing jackets. I'd think that, given the relatively short cold season here, they'd not be used to the cold and bundle up, but they seem to engage in some sort of cold-weather denial instead.

God help 'em if they have to DRIVE in the snow!

We are flirting with Freezing Rain. It's been 32 or less since late Sunday Night. We keep getting sprinkles and it looks like it could drop buckets from the sky. I imagine if it's going to do anything, it will wait until everyone is asleep. ;-)

The one thing about Big D is no one has generators. And for us, the fireplace is not an option.

In Virginia, I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt when it was 46 and raining. Without the wind, it just didn't seem that cold. Once January arrived, then things got interesting.

Glad to hear you guys are doing ok. Man, I don't think I could survive a night of 40 degree's. My only asthma problems are cold and heavy exercise. You should see what happens when I mix the two. heh

My wife called me a little bit ago and we have power

4.5 days without it was plenty for me anyhow....
  13. #14
    WoW! I'd go nuts.

Welcome back to the land of the living.....

  14. #15
I've been without power for as long, but we get hammered in the late summer, ie, fallout from hurricanes. Last summer I took my UPS's and laptops to work just to charge them up. Gave me a meager couple of hours of internet time ;p

Course now I have a generator. Ya DO go nuts without power. Glad to hear you guys are back on the grid.

I am sooo happy everybody is well and back here again.
Now I changed ma yahoo weather to the cities near to where ppl here live.

The weather here really sux this December.
Its almost always partly or totally cloudy. That NEVER happens.
NORMALLY we would all be able to go to the beach, take a nice swim (water temperature 60,8F/16°C) take a sun bath 77 F/25 °C.
Turists r pissed, but still some of them r runnig around in T-shirts and shorts.

Me I am feeling like a frozen fish tho.
With the turists them viruses r arriving. Coming from Germany mainly but also as far as Slovakia, Polen or Norwegian and Sweden.
I cought me a couple belonging to a rather restistant species making me shivering through the night with fever. Rare cause I cannot remember when a cold was that hard on me ever.
At night time I use the electric heater for a while and disconect it from suply before going to sleep.

    Ahh & I got ma cat. 🙂

Heard about the ice storm. Glad you two are back up and running. I am in Germany for the Xmas time and we have had cold weather but it hovers around 3°C.

Germany is a relatively small country, but the temperatures there vary a lot.
From what u r telling I guess u stay somewhere in / close to a big city not too far up North, rather in the center. Frankfurt would fit.

Welcome back Sarge, good to hear your OK.
If possible, can you maybe sneak over to Bubbas house and keep his power off for another week or so?
It's really quite peaceful around here - really.

I'm sure we can all get like 0.77 ¢ together and paypal you - we can call it our collective early Christmas present.

    pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

    pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease u man.
    Nada.
    U have no education Duck.
We have to work on a couple of principles.

U call that peaceful aiming ur ant-gun at me, huh?
(U forgot tho that in the area where ice bears r roaming bullet-ants can never survive. They freeze inside the gun already 😀 )

& then, I must say, Duck, u have a slightly strange conception about what a present is.

    Let me explain to u.

    Here we go:

Step 1: man - this is an invitation: when u offer somebody something to drink or eat and u pay or prepare it.

This is n o t what I am talking about.

Step 2 and basta: A present or gift is being handed on in the sense of what the other would like or can use and is likely to be happy about.
It should not be made out of pure egoistic self advantage, that is mean and I won't support that.

Well, Well, Well Duck man maybe we r getting closer to SEE how civilized ppl behave, normally.

Thank you for sticking up for me Saint. But what makes you think Duck lives in a civilized world?? I mean he lives in Idaho.

  22. #23
Er Saint, ya know, when the cats are away.... and things like that. ;p

IDAHO?!? 🙂 He doesn't just live in America, he lives in God Blessed America! 😉

Yeah that's what I saw too. Beautiful country. Love this hell creek. Looks great. Think thats about where our Duck must live. Deepest point.
Also I noticed a more than average high percetage of wracky germans there. Norwegians and Swedish. (They r all wracky - the further north the wrackier it gets 🙂 )

If u just take a quick glimpse at the Wicipedia culture page of Idaho things r getting a little clearer here.
Culture in Idaho, oh oh oh

Urrr Duck, I know a nice present for ur wife: what about a 6 pointed star gem, huh? U only find prescious gems like that in Idaho and the Himalaya. What about taking a little excursion? U can come back, when u found one 🙂

PS. I knew directly from former posts that Duck, naturally is a cat hater. Has to be. I am too. Respectly to cats in general terms. It is simply a horror to see how much harm they r doing to an otherwise balanced ecosystem. Fauna - especially birds r suffering a lot - and for what: a greedy predator who loves to play. Most cats don't even eat their prey. A crying shame!
Not at all like my cats! (But thats another story.) Anyways here its diferent. There almost is no fauna. Its a DUNE like desert island - lots of nada -.

Here is another Idahoian curiosiy: There is a county called Boner-County !!! Lots of punks living up there, Duck?

    Just to make that clear:
I am sticking up for maself here first of all.

It started with the mix-up. Since I posted this reply to Sarge's Manao Table Dance Bar card Duck seems to think I was talking like u, Bubba and I meant him or somethin. I surely did not - I did not even think about him - neither do I think he is sexually retarded - not at all - just the oposite 🙂 , but it seems a little too late to give explanations now.

In any case: as I said before - and I think it is not funny to repeat maself here continuently - I like him being around. Does not matter in what mood he is. It just shows he is still with us and did not fall victim to a hungry man-eater grizzly. Heard in some places there they r still roaming.

If you've been reading the forums, you'll know this isn't new around here. Keep warm, stay safe, watch your water pipes don't freeze if you lose heat, and we'll see you on the other side.

We have hourly and daily rates for Bubba as a snuggle bug.
Good luck - hope it passes you by.
  31. #32
    I have a daily rate?!?

    .....eerrrr

I mean, that is not true and you know it!
  32. #33
Just trying to get you off your back and whore you out daily - I make more money that way.

-oops was that my out side voice again.
    Damn.

Duck , doubt be that u r in posession of ur own will ?! Which of them Hell Canyon ghosts has taken posession on u now, heh? With ur greedy pimp behavior u think u can take financial advantage of Bubba's avator? The fuzzy one? He came to me crying his heart out. Does not wanne be given away - its against his conviction and so on.

If u need money why don't u go look out for them gems? Deep in the Snake river waters ducks can dive and find all kinds of prescious stones and u don't have to hurt ur "brothers in arms" here.

Am I too fucking stupid to understand what the hell he's talking about ever or has Stargate command hit another solar flare while hooking up a the gate to P3X-562
and brought over the alternate Gamers Radio forums by accident?

I don´t believe in accidents. Not anymore. Since Sarge revealed that u guys here r a wrapped in a inuendo.

And see, now things r starting to make sense. When Lexx said -
    I wish
    - I first could not believe it, but now....

The two always had a, well more than good relation.

Duck was so sweet to give the final hint to the alternate GR forums and provided me so with the final clue to his "real" character:

    Cpt. Vega

Not that there is anything wrong with that tho.
  37. #38
HAHA Good one Saint, know you know why we call him Bubblicious 'cuz he's both fruity tasty (so they say (in those circles(nudge nudge wink wink)))
  38. #39
Just look for a moment Duck:

Here that is the site u took the glyphs from: rdanderson.com

And these r the demographic numbers for visitors for that page:
    quantcast

Let the ppl decide. IMO this speaks for itsself. 😀
And I stick to it: there is nothing wrong with that.

PS. So yes, Doc, I maybe naive, but I am not stupid, huh!
