God HATES the Pirates

Pedro Alverez, selected by the Pirates as 2nd overall draft pick this year, agreed just before the midnight draft deadline on August 15th, for $6 million dollars. Nice money, considering he might never play in the major leagues. SIX million, guaranteed, before he swings a bat. Pedro had to overrule his agent to make the deal. Not enough money!

His agent, the ever-classy Scott Boras, has told Alverez not to sign the contract, and the players union is filing a grievance against the commissioner's office, saying that the contract is void - that it was agreed to AFTER the midnight signing deadline.

Boras, as any baseball fan knows, is a bedsore on the syphilitic ass of baseball. You want to know what Boras is complaining about? $200,000. Alverez was given SIX million, but Boras wants an additional $200,000. WHY? I'll tell you why. Buster Posey, the #1 draft pick this year, got $6.2 million. Boras doesn't want another agent to top the money he got for his top player!

This gets better! Eric Hosmer, drafted by the Kansas City Royals, also got $6 million, and is happy with his contract - BUT it was submitted AFTER Alverez's contract. So even if Boras is successful in getting Alverez's contract voided, that will void the contract of ANOTHER of his clients, one that doesn't WANT to get out of his contract!

There aren't enough facepalm pics in the world to communicate what I'm feeling.

Scott Boras is a cock. The fewer people he represents, the better it is for baseball.

Hey Sarge, do you have any web sites you check frequently to keep up with the Red Sox?

Thanks. There are a couple long-time Pirate fans that have inexplicably turned into SCOTT FREAKIN' BORAS fans at my Bucco fan board, and the whole board is bloody from the trolling and chumming. I figured it might be time to put my plan to adopt a second baseball team into effect. I've liked the way Epstein runs things(for the most part), they have plenty of money, they aren't from New York, and as an AL team, they'll almost never face the Bucs. . .avoiding the uncomfortable, "Who do I root for?" conundrum.

It would be nice to SEE a game once in awhile. Do you know when the Pirates get national TV coverage? When Boras screws us over, or when they get their asses handed to them in interleague play.
