New season starts tonight.... We may have to wait until next year to see Lost, but at least we have Heroes to keep us busy for a while.....

Also, two new shows around Heroes with Geek appeal.

First up is Chuck, where a Nerd Herd supervisor gets some sort of computer brain and winds up being a reluctant secret agent.

Next is Journyman. Not sure what it's about other than guy travels through time, helps people. You may have heard of it's first run, Quantum Leap? :-)

    Whoo-Hoo!
    Thanks Atomm!

Dexter Rocks... great show. Chuck and Journeyman I'm mildly interested in... we will have to see how the pilots go.

    I'm with you Sagz....

Tomorrow night is Reaper. From what I've read, if you liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you should like Reaper. It's worth noting that Kevin Smith directed the first episode, although I'm not clear on whether he will continue directing it.

There are entirely too many shows with potential this year...I'm hoping that my DVR will be able to keep up 😀
  7. #7
I read the Geek factor on TV has increased 20% this season, what ever that means.

Don't forget about Pushing Daisies on October 3rd.

As I understand it, he's just directing the first episode. Thanks for the reminder, I don't wanna miss this one.

keep talking about them shows.. punks.. I am in England unable to watch them..

well at least I get to drive on the 'correct' side of the road and not deal with traffic or stopping.. ever. Not even a stop sign/light in sight for quite some time around.

Not true. I read a british forum. Both Heroes and Prison Break are there on BBC4 😉

Besides anyone with a clue can download TV shows from the internets! 🙂

No excuses for missing a show, most good ones are uploaded on a regular bases.

I DL shows from the U.K. on a regular basis. I already seen all the Doctor Who's and Torchwoods and they are just now being shown in the US on the Sci-Fi channel. 🙂

I'm not sure they air them at the same time. I'm guessing not, judging from TV discussions I've seen in forums in the past.

    Spoilers AHEAD!!!!!!

Whoa! How cool was the premiere? Was that Peter at the end? Who was Nathan seeing in the mirror? How long will it take Hiro to figure out he needs to step up and save the village?

A good setup for the season. Mixes things up a bit, lotsa questions, intrigue, etc. 😀

I think they still owe us from the season finale. The season peaked 2 episodes early and finished with a letdown. When you have a bunch of super-powered ppl fighting, there should be an actual fight!!!

I get the feeling the people running the show(so to speak) won't let us down twice. They're doing too much right.

that would wok if you get BBC4.. which I do not. Not faithfully.. its mainly white noise.

And no I don't have a clue and am just going to watch it off of TIVO when I get back with the wiffey
  19. #20
I watched it last night and thought it was a good premier. They definitely set up some plot lines that I can't trace to any conclusion yet.

Looking forward to the origins series as well.

Last night was a busy one for my DVR. It ran both receivers from 8-11. I think that's the first time I've ever had both receivers recording at the same time for that long.
  20. #21
    What else did you get?

Don't forget, Reaper tonight. Kevin Smith directed this episode.....

  21. #22
Receiver 1: "The War" (Part 1 was excellent by the way) and Journeyman (haven't watched yet)
Receiver 2: Chuck, Heroes, and then CSI: Miami

I need to watch Chuck while I'm not doing something else. It seemed good from the snippets that I paid attention to.

meh, it's beginning to get stale, but my wife likes it so we watch it together. I pretty much just watch it for the gratuitous hot women everywhere now.

    That's always a good reason....

I forgot about The War. I wanted to see that as well.....

For some reason I didn't watch Heroes when it was on TV. Must have been in the same time slot as something else I watch. However, I'm watching it now on DVD. It took forever to get released and then another long wait for the disks to be available on netflix. What a great show. I can see why it became so popular. I'm going to try and avoid any information about Season 2, since I probably wont get to see it until next year on DVD.

Luckily I still have some disks of "The Shield" to watch in the mean time, and then I'll get "The Entourage" a try. I tried watching the new release of "Dr Who" but uggg just a bit too campy for my taste. It wasn't bad, just not my cup of tea. I do most of my DVD watching while running on the treadmill so it has to be something real intense to keep my pumped up during my workout.

One of my other fav shows is "The Unit." Man I digg the original theme song, until this year. They changed the theme song and have started out with this really convoluted conspiracy theory stuff. I hope the show hasn't just jumped the shark.
  27. #28
I would say Heroes is my Second Favorite show after Lost. My wife even enjoys it.

You'll find we are usually good about putting in a warning and scrolling way down before posting spoilers.

I watched the first season of Dr. Who. It was ok, but when they switched the lead, I lost interest. Stargate Atlantis is fun to watch. You could even start it without having watched SG1.

  28. #29
Watched Chuck last night and it was good. Very funny.

Also watched the first 15 minutes of Journeyman and that looked good as well.

I have the comcast duel hi-def DVR as well, it runs recording on both tuners most every night between 8 and 11 🙂

I have to make sure to keep watching stuff as it comes in or it will fill up 🙂

My original Tivo also runs sometimes, it has its own tuner. I watch way too much TV but cannot stop myself....
I upgraded the HD's in this so space is no longer an issue. 🙂

It is a good thing that I have no life 🙂

BTW another show that starts tonight(WED) on CBS is called Moonlight. it is a vampire that helps people at night. You will remember its original airing under the title of "Forever Knight" 🙂

He is so terrible. I cannot believe that show does well in any way. I watched the first episode or two to be open minded and he SUCKS so bad. Any actor found waiting on tables in any restaurant could do better. I could do better and I cannot act! The fact that he still has a job and gets paid millions to NOT act pisses me off.

Oh man.... That one shot of the girl agent putting on the knives... I HAVE to find a still of that for my wall paper. Dear God!!!

I will be in my bunk....

The show was okay. I won't tear it apart as there is no show if I do.
Love Baldwin in most anything he does.

What I am confused about is the who is good and bad in this. Is Baldwin a bad agent, a good guy in the end just doing a job? All the blatant killing and the who FBI versus CIA thing gets me confused.

I love this show, seen them all. I also loved the old theme song. What the hell is this new one? It sucks, leave it alone sheesh!

I do not think it jumped the shark. It is just them being set up so not really conspiracy at all.

    Spoilers:

That girl told the government agency that the unit had the map so the unit was marked. Now that they found the body dumping ground that the map marked, it makes sense on why. Any agency would not want that found. I guess it is conspiracy that a government agency would have something like that but it is not unbelievable. 🙂

This show will waste Baldwin, and it won't last the season. I read this somewhere. . . "I didn't know there was already a formula for 'Geeky guy gets a bunch of data downloaded into his head and becomes a secret agent," but apparently there is, and they're using it". I'll watch it if I remember.

Journeyman is gone by the end of the season as well.

Reaper is a winner, so far. They hit the target they were aiming for, without an overly formulaic feel. Has a "Shaun of the dead" feel to it. I dunno if the 2nd friend is a keeper or not, but then he was out of most of the episode. Ray Wise was a GREAT Devil. This show reminds me of "G vs E" or "Good versus Evil" that was on USA, I think, a few years back. More directly, it has a similar plot to "Brimstone", but with a comic feel (John Glover (Linus Luther in 'Smallville') made an EXCELLENT devil in that one).

Chuck wasn't great, but I'll watch a few more, hoping Adam Baldwin isn't wasted. 😐

Journeyman didn't grab me, and it was a struggle to watch the whole thing. I'll probably never watch it again. 🤮

My Name is Earl was great, as usual. Love that show! 👍

Yes SG-A has really been consistently good. I am glad as it replaces one of my all time favorite shows and lets face it, we do not have nearly enough GOOD Sci-Fi.

Heroes set up some good things to come, I hope.👍

Oh yea it looks like another great season and I got to see more cheerleaders. I was worried 🙂

Chuck wasn't great, but I'll watch a few more, hoping Adam Baldwin isn't wasted. 😐

I agree with Baldwin after seeing him in that store shirt, man he does NOT look good in a polo!!!! He looked like an idiot.

Journeyman didn't grab me, and it was a struggle to watch the whole thing. I'll probably never watch it again. 🤮

It did not grab me much either but I will give it a few episodes. You can never watch just one show and make a final judgment as you need to see where the thing goes and get a bit into the characters.
I do not think this will last at all anyway though.

My Name is Earl was great, as usual. Love that show! 👍

Will watch it today but it is always good.

Reaper will be something I tune into every week. 👍

Did not watch reaper yet but I did watch Moonlight. Basically Forever Night but he is a detective instead of a cop. The girl on there is really cute!

It was okay but won't last.

I missed HOUSE, but have it on my computer to watch sometime soon.

House was good and it looks like it will be a good season for sure.

While I am here I want to add "Prison Break."

Man I tell you what, it is amazing how they are keeping that going but it just holds you to it. I keep wondering where they can take the story but every season they keep it going and well done at that. Like 24.

It is not what you think it is. They are not trying to break out of a prison every season and that is all I will say 🙂

If you are not watching this, you are missing out.

I've already previewed the first 4 episodes of Dextor, so I won't give any hints away 😉

Oh wow I just watched this and man was Reaper GREAT! I hope they can keep up that pace though but it was funny as hell.

I can see Kevin Smiths influence all over that one!

    This one better last!!

I really liked Reaper, but did anyone else feel like Reaper and Chuck are the same show?

    Slacker gains powers.
Slacker works for evil (devil, govt) fighting evil.
Slacker works in a big box store chain.
Slacker has a strange friend as sidekick.
Slacker has a girl who is a semi quasi love interest.

I was thinking this and heard a tv critic on NPR say the exact same thing.

Oh, and I did like Chuck. I am just so suprised how formulatic television is that we can always get the same shows on different stations at the same time.

Maybe I have lowered expectations. I'm enjoying the setup for now, and don't feel jerked around like other shows sometimes make me feel (Lost).

The only interesting thing about the "Hiro in Japan" storyline was when Kensai. . .well, the surprise with Kensai (avoiding spoilers). OK, Hiro's confrontation with the bandits was cool as well. Magic! 🙂

Not real wild about the "Cheerleader in High School" story. Her new friend might be interesting, and the soon-to-be confrontation and revelations hold promise.

The drunk congressman is boring (and his 'Grizzly Adams' beard sucks). His mother is interesting. I think she has some sort of psychic power. . .

Mohinder is boring, but he healed a character that might bring some interesting things to the storyline. Also, he's connected to Claire's dad, so he becomes more interesting that way. Claire's dad is interesting even when he's making copies for the customers - a tribute the the actor and the writing of his character. He has that guy-next-door look, yet you know he has plans upon plans, and can take his bully-of-a-boss down without spilling his coffee. Parkman is more boring than he should be.

Peter's storyline at least has ass-kicking, even if he's letting the dull-witted thugs have undue influence.

I felt it was better than last week. I'd like to see Hiro back in modern times - hopefully they'll wrap that up soon. I suspect with Kensai's discovery, he'll be on his way to being the hero he's supposed to be very soon.

Almost forgot about the Wonder-Twins. That in itself tells you all you need to know about them.

Well I was going with Kensi was really Hiro dong everything back then behind the mask. Then all of a sudden the English Kensi heals??? Did Hiro do that? So he has that power as well now or was that Kensi himself?? Confused here.

Not real wild about the "Cheerleader in High School" story. Her new friend might be interesting, and the soon-to-be confrontation and revelations hold promise.

Okay so what i sher deal. She can heal but now she doe snot feel any pain at all? I remember her feeling pain in the past, at least a bit. now she plucks her hand in hot water with no pain at all. So she can also regenerate which does not surprise me when she breaks her limbs into bits and they heal. I admit I cringed when she cut her toe off!!!!

Agreed with both your opinions here.

Mohinder is boring, but he healed a character that might bring some interesting things to the storyline. Also, he's connected to Claire's dad, so he becomes more interesting that way. Well he healed the guy from last season. I wondered what happened to him. I love Clair's dad now. Man I hated him in the beginning when you thought he was the bad guy. I am still leaving a bit of wonder about that just in case. It is a complex character. Great actor 🙂

Peter's storyline at least has ass-kicking, even if he's letting the dull-witted thugs have undue influence.

WTF is with him losing his memory, but worse yet found handcuffed in a metal container???
I hope they revealwhat happened here and who put him in there and why.

I thought I heard that was going to last 6 episodes or something. I do not mind him being back in the past, it is kind of fun 🙂 I am wondering what he is going to do when he finds out his dad was murdered when he gets back. 🙂

Almost forgot about the Wonder-Twins. That in itself tells you all you need to know about them.

Not liking them so far. Lame un-clear what the hell their characters power is. So she kills people when they are separated? So what is with him bringing the one women back? Weird.
    I hope it gets better.

I've read where others were also confused, but I fully believe that it's Kensai healing himself. I think we were all thinking in the back of our mind it would be Hiro becoming Kensai - they misdirected us a bit - but with the attractive woman falling for him, Hiro filling his head with tales of how heroic he is, and Kensai's newfound power to heal, he's gonna go ahead and fulfill his destiny. . .probably with a hand or 2 from Hiro along the way.

Okay so what i sher deal. She can heal but now she doe snot feel any pain at all? My WAG is she DOES feel pain, but has become used to it somewhat. If you or I get punched unexpectedly, we might have a tendency to stand there and go, "Owwww. . .", but you'll notice prizefighters don't do that so much. Experience with so much pain (burns, broken bones, and being filleted on a morgue slab, for example), coupled with her expectation that it won't last long, has made her more resistant. She DID seem to feel the missing toe. 🙂 That might even have been paired with her fear that it wouldn't grow back, and so she was much more affected by that one.

Well he healed the guy from last season. I wondered what happened to him.

What guy? The only person Mohinder healed last season, that I can recall, was Molly. She's hiding out with Parkman and Mohinder. Did I forget someone?

I love Clair's dad now. Man I hated him in the beginning when you thought he was the bad guy. I am still leaving a bit of wonder about that just in case. It is a complex character. Great actor 🙂

I'm 100% certain he's acting for the good of the "Heroes" when he can, but will act in Claire's interest when it might conflict with the greater good. His motivations were clearly revealed last season, and while they MAY choose to show he has a hidden agenda, I hope they don't. That arc was set up well, and wonderfully executed.

WTF is with him losing his memory, but worse yet found handcuffed in a metal container???
I hope they reveal what happened here and who put him in there and why.

    All in time, I'm sure.

Twins. Yin-Yang. Two sides of the same coin. She has some deadly power she can't control. He has some power that is the opposite. It may be he can control his a bit more, as he healed the lady, or maybe that was just him holding her (the lady was probably "only mostly dead"*). They might be fun when they get to Mohinder and sort themselves out. Now it's just an extended set-up and backstory. I kinda wonder if she's affected by the "hero virus", but so far, they've only showed ppl get sick and die from it, they haven't showed it having a "red kryptonite " effect. The brother is pretty close to her, and isn't seemingly affected. I'm probably wrong there.

    Where is Niki?????????

And her son. And D.L., her husband. Lying low, I expect, hiding their son and healing D.L.'s wounds. They'll be along when the plot needs them. I'm glad they have time to deal with their domestic situation off-screen. 🙂 The actress filmed "Resident Evil: Extinction" recently. I wonder if she needed extra time to film that beyond their off-time.

    *-"The Princess Bride"

ETA - I think a line in this episode gave away the season finale. I thought about it when I heard it the first time, but someone on another msg board brought it up, and made me look at it again. Astonishing foreshadowing, and really, I like the way they did it. Very easy to overlook, to take as hyperbole, but it makes sense if you're playing attention. It will be interesting to see if this plays out. I'm not going to talk about it just yet. If I'm right, I wouldn't want to color everyone else's perception and enjoyment of the show this early in the season. We'll get more hints, I'm sure, and I'll talk about this later when we are closer to the end of the season.

House, Bones, and REAPER on tonight.

The new show based on the Geico Cavemen is also supposed to be on, but I can't find it on the TV guide site.
Found on another site - a commercial that would make a better TV show than the Geico cavemen:

Murder, He Snored-- A detective who has lost the ability to sleep solves crimes with the help of Abe Lincoln, a beaver, and a silent deep sea-diver.

No desire to watch cavemen. It had really really horrible pre-views reaction. People who DL-ed it early said it sucked. Just seems lame to me to begin with for a TV show and I do not need yet another lame show when my other lists are full. 🙂

If it is good, let me know.

I wanna see "Murder, he snored". . .

Actually Geiko commercials make me ill. I don't know if its the frequency or the stupidly of them, but I'd never do business with them.

I like the caveman commercials. The problem is they went with different actors. The previews just didn't feel the same.

As long as Chuck keeps moving along. I'm starting to like it more than Reaper and Heroes just keeps getting better and better.

I haven't seen Cavemen yet, but I have it, so I will eventually. It's a shame they didn't keep at least ONE of the commercial actors. The main guy was great.

"Chuck" is looking better. Hot chicks, and Adam Baldwin is getting some better use, but I'm wondering if the whole "geek in over his head in the spy game while working at Best Buy" thing might get old fast. Reaper's second episode sucked. It was almost a second pilot, and when you have Kevin Smith directing your FIRST pilot, what the hell's the point?

Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman make a nice 1-2-3 Monday night punch. Enjoying all three shows so far.

Journeyman might be on the ropes. It lost 35% of the viewers from Heroes last week.

I understand what you mean about loosing it's punch doc, but I think it's doing a better job of the overall story arc than Reaper. Baldwin is a great foil.

Reaper was ok last night. I simply want more. It seems to lack the character development that Chuck has.

Reaper was okay. I thought it was more of the same except sock was not as wild in this one.
I am just not sure you can make a series out of this type of thing. The humor is really movie length.

Journeyman was much better that last episode. the pilot was a bit weird, I did not get into it. I wanted to give it a chance so watch the second and he is finally realizing when ti happens and it seems a bit more clear now on what is going on.

Heroes is still good enough said. I remember hearing about heroes before it aired and told Doc about it. He though it sounded stupid at that time. I am glad it worked out to be good. 🙂

Did I mention that Sylar aka Zachary Quinto is from Pittsburgh! 😉

Cavemen, no interest. They cannot hold that 30 second humor to a full 30 min. It will get old really fast. It will tank fast.

Chuck is not bad. I LOVE the women in it, WOW they are cute, especially the spy! Baldwin is cool overall, I am a big fan of his. The last episode made him a bit more likable. It is good to see the spies working together to protect Chuck instead of the initial confusion of who is good and who is bad. Just keep up going on missions together using Chucks knowledge and it will work out.

Been watching Moonlight. Not bad so far. I really liked this last episode. Also another hot chick to watch in it so I am happy. 🙂

Been watching K-Ville. It is not that bad overall. I would like to see where it goes. I like the two main actors so it has that going for it.

Dexter was great. I loved that they had Keith Carradine in it. I really like him better then his half-brother David. He has one of the best voices in the business 🙂 He is not in nearly enough things. He is a great actor and seems like a descent guy... We need more of him.

Did I mention that Rita aka Julie Benz is from Pittsburgh!! 🙂

Watched the Pilot for "Pushing Daisy's." Wow was that weird! Kind of like a Tim Burton TV show. Not bad, just so different! I will keep watching to see where it goes.

House was good until he electrocuted himself. Damn I hope that was not a Jump the Shark Episode. That was lame that he would do something so stupid!!!

Also his character is getting even more illogical and wild. They put this weeks patient through all kinds of crap as a training exercise for the teams?? House just seems to run wild with no real diagnosis going on. I mean he was always a jerk but at least he tried to cure the patient at all costs. Now it seems as though he does not really care.

Journeyman dropped 35% of "searches" according to that article that Lexx linked to.

The ladies in Chuck are definitely fine. The other new show that I'm liking is the Bionic Woman

Ack, your right Sarge. Man, where I have I been lately....

I have Pushing Daisies on Tivo. I haven't watched it yet. I expect I will like it, then it will get pulled. That's been the case on his two previous shows which I really, really liked. Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me.

When you replied to me in your msg before this, did you really mean me? Are you OK, or are you just trying to read and reply when you're working? You're doing like 60,000 odd things lately 😉

ETA: I had an internet acquaintance act odd on another board. He's a smart guy, much more so than myself, and a very nice, polite guy. It happened one day that I noticed a couple odd things in his posts, and then one or 2 REALLY FREAKIN' OUT THERE things. After I talked to him (pm's), it came out that he was 'off his meds'. He went back on them, and he was back to his normal self again. You never quite know what's happening on the other end of the internet, or what the folks you talk to are going through. Makes you go "Hmmmm". 😳

This time, I had it right. I replied to you previously and I was confirming Sarge's correction of my bad 35% factation. (yea, i made that word up on purpose)

I'm fairly swamped at work right now. I'm working similar, but different issues with multiple clients and it's kind of frazzled my brain lately. At a certain point, you just start to feel inundated.

I kinda thought so. I was giving you grief, but I was really wondering if you haven't been a little fried lately. I know contract work in IT can be fun. . .I've never done it, but have known ppl who have. The money can be good, but if you factor in the lack of benefits, pressure, and the unpaid overtime when you're trying to make a deadline, well, I've never met anyone that wanted to do it long-term.

In the interest of full disclosure, I had mentioned another mistake I thought I'd caught you in, but realized it was my mistake and removed it, hopefully before anyone else saw it 😀
