Very interesting alternate ending. I'm not sure which I like better. I haven't read the book either so I don't have that to compare to.

Did you catch the part where he looked at all the pictures on the wall of previous experiments? That's about as close as it gets to the book. In that moment, he realized that he was the monster, that he was "the legend" that hunted the thing that these people became.

I just read the book about a month ago. Neither ending follows the book entirely, but I think it's better that they don't. However, the alternate ending definitely fits with the story and the spirit of the book more, and continues some threads from earlier in the movie that had been dropped in the original ending. It's better storytelling. It's better moviemaking. I have no idea why they would have filmed or used the original ending at all.

    I'm with you doc 100%.

I liked the movie and the book, but I'm glad I saw the movie before the book.

I am not sure about wether I would be 100% with you, doc, but one thing I am sure of - this end of the legend makes me want to watch the film. I loved to see just the end - its awesome 🙂

Thats what I tell everyone who asks about the movie. The blu-ray version had the alternate on it, along with a few more uncut scenes all the way through that added even more lines to the story. Don't know if you saw the entire "alternate movie" instead of just the ending but the effect is portrayed, maybe not at the picture scene, but it is portrayed very nicely.

I don't recommend the theatrical release all that much, the alternate versino on blu-ray I agree with and recommend wholeheartedly.
