Sorry I have been away for the past couple days... I am having some computer issues...
Seems that when I installed my SATA drive everything went downhill from there...
I can install XP and update all drivers and such... But the second I install my ATI drivers, I start getting filesystem errors... It is appearing to be a conflict between the video card and the raid controller...
I hope to have it all resolved today so I can get back into everything...
HA! No... I am working on making this ATI work no matter what... I am now going the Win2K route again.. Very interesing issue that ATI has with some systems that have 1GB ram, large HD's <= 60GB || Raid, and windows xp...
Well... 2K was a no go... This is getting really old... I have reinstalled Windows about 15 times trying to get this resolved...
Everything works fine up until I install the ATI drivers... There are other people out there that are having this same issue with no resolutions... [that I can find at least...]
I am reinstalling windows as I type this... I will now try the Omega drivers to see if that does any good...
I did see a post where someone thought it could be the SATA controller... But I don't know as, like I said, everything is fine until I install the drivers for the card... Well... Lets see if different drivers do the trick [yes, I even tried installing old ATI catalyst drivers...]
That is just what the ATI website had to say... I am not running raid... And well... Now.. I am not running SATA either...
This just plain sucks... I have run out of ideas to try... One person did say, as I said in my last post, that it was their SATA controller that was causing the problems... They switched out MB's and all was good... That would suck as I just got this MB a few weeks ago... I will call Mike and see how he is with exchanges and get another one...
What I am about to try is installing my SATA with my OS being on IDE to see how that acts... Just hope that my OS does not get corrupt on my IDE now 🙂 ...
Remember when I got my mobo? I had all sorts of problems with the SATA. In the end, I found out that I couldn't boot the SATA unless it was running Raid 0 and there were no IDE drives installed.
Have you ran SATA with the mobo before? It sounds like you are in the same boat I was in and can't boot to SATA. Might look into that further on the mobo.
I have had SATA on this same MB model... I had to replace my MB when my AGP slot died...
I only have one HD, so there is no RAID options that I can set...
The drive only dies after I install my ATI drivers... I have really just given up for right now... I will see if I can reaplace the MB... If not, then I am not going to run SATA... I will have to go out and buy some large IDE drives... [Not what I want to do... But I am tired of not having a system up...]
Yea, I am doing the same thing. I run the os on an IDE and all my apps/games on the SATA. Racer has the same system, minus the SATA and I get into BFV way before him. As long as things like Battlefield are on the SATA, it still helps.
Also, Max at OKGG had an IS7-E for $40. I think that is the one that has 6 SATA drives and can boot to the SATA. Look in the classifieds. If you decide to go that route, verify the boot thing because it's slightly different than mine.
Ok... Installed BFV to SATA and all seems great... Ran at highest graphics and was VERY smooth... Recording via fraps requires me to tone it down just a little... But I recorded a gig AVI with no issues... 🙂
