Ok, so we drew names at work for christmas. I got one of our field guys. Through questioning co-workers as to what would be a good gift, I learned that he is a gamer as well. So, here's where I need your input:
I was told that he likes war games. Of course my first reaction was well no problem I'll get him BF2. But I have been thinking.... *smoke fills the topic*
What other games do you all like? Is there one that's just as good? We are supposed to have a $20 maximum limit, but I have never been one to follow the rules. And no one else out here would have the slightest idea how much a computer game costs, so if I spent more no one would know. But my main concern is getting the best one. So what do you all think? I have no idea what games he currently has, so that makes it a bit difficult. But I was thinking about maybe FEAR or BF1942 or Call of Duty. My experience with war games is a bit limited, so that's why I'm asking y'all!
I guess you need to know what kinds of wargames he likes to play. FPS, RTS, Turn-based? Single player or Multiplayer? Does he like a particular era?
Call of Duty games are good WWII FPS games. Company of Heroes is a new good one as well that is sort of an RTS and is WWII based I played the Demo of the newest Rainbow 6 game earlier this year and that was pretty cool although I couldn't tell you the name of it right now 🙂
Lol... just order UT 2004 online for less than $20 easlily. I've decided to buy another UT server starting next month as war games are getting abit stale lately 😉

Second, Oh please. BF2 is no more stale than UT is man. Sheesh you mentioned how old BF2 was and how stale it is many times and it is driving me crazy!!! UT is no better this way, it is as, if not more, stale! Putz! 😉
Sindy, I hate to say it but a gift certificate to Best Buy is always the easiest way to handle this.

Actually it's not a secret santa thing, we put our names on the gifts. We just don't know who got who until we exchange them.
And I don't think that the guy that told me that he plays games knows what kind he is more into. He said he is playing something now that's named something-life. But he said it's not half-life... So I have no idea what he could be talking about. He's a military man, so I think that most of them would be pretty cool. That's also why I was thinking BF2, the making squads and stuff should be right up his alley. But I wasn't sure. I think that this shall require more research!!! And the gift card thing is not a bad idea, but Lexx is right.... Girls like to shop!! Although I have not been in one single retail store since before Thanksgiving... 😳 🙁

Probably the best thing you could do is take him out for dinner and a movie, then make him go shopping with you so you can pick his brain abit 😉 Then again that might make Paladin jealous, hehehe. 😄

Well, Sarge is well known for liking his first person shooter "war games". So I would suggest that since "Barbie's Play land" is Sarges favorite game you should buy that for the guy at work.

Ah, just a small question I think would help. What type of computer systems does he have? Buying BF2 or COD2 for a newer system. UT2004 or BF1942 for older ones.
UT series are lots of fun but expect to get fragged big time when online Call of Duty for a great WWII single player experience BF series for just plain fun
Thank you Varg! I asked the person that told me he liked games and he said he's got a P4, now what specs I don't know. I asked about RAM because we all know that BF is a RAM hog, and he didn't know that either. So, I think that I'm just gonna have to be sneaky and employ some tactics to extract information without him knowing what I'm doing.... hehe.
And by the way you and the ICE guys are all invited to our first GRB girls night! We will be having facials and reviewing "Battlefield Barbie".

Just get him the cool BF2 pack that includes Special Forces etc... And be done with it 😉
