FYI, Wash from Firefly has joined the cast as well as the dude who plays The Middleman.
Oh yea and the chick from Doctor Evil's Sing Along Blog, Penny or something like that has also joined the cast.
Well Hell, if Wash is there and the Middleman is there, I have to collect the whole set. . .which won't be hard, because they'll cancel it ten minutes into the premiere. 🙁 At least this time I EXPECT ti to get canceled, so I won't get too attached.

Ok, so I finally got around to watching the first episode. I actually liked it. I can't put my finger on it, but Joss just knows how to tell an intriguing story. I hope this one actually does well.
Either way, this is Joss. The suits are going to screw him anyway.
FYI, I read a recent review and he said this was his last foray into Television. Everything after this is going to be Internet only. It seems he likes the freedom, not to mention, he's probably putting more cash into his pocket instead of the studio's pocket.
So we'll never hear from him again then. To bad he had a lot of potential years ago. Just read his bio..... made me laugh.

I finally saw the second episode, and it's picking up. Still think the whole idea of the Doll House is the biggest WTF ever, even worse than My Own Worst Enemy.

Personally, I think Joss is very smart. The future of entertainment is the Internet. The biggest problem is a lack of quality products. He's already proved that quality products can make money. Dr. Evil is actually making him money and he didn't have to bend to the will of the suits.

I don't quite understand that, especially given that the majority of people who didn't care for the show said that things seemed to be picking up in Episode 2. If you ask me, Joss knows what people like.

Yeah, with TiVo and viewing over the net, times are a-changin'. If he can find a way to make money by a different means, more power too him. Dr. Horrible worked out for him, and if anyone has reason to get out from under the thumb of meddling network execs, it's Joss.
Hey, did you know Fox also made him show Firefly out of order? The pilot wasn't the first one aired with Firefly either. Gee, just like old times.

I was reading about the Firefly Comics he put out. It seems he's holding the best story's back in case they can do another movie. At least there is hope.
Who says the next movie has to be linear? They could go back and answer questions about Book.
She says Joss did the scripts for episodes 6-13. I haven't seen Friday's episode yet, but unless it gets worse than what I've seen, I'll stick with it until at least episode 8.
I still expect it to get canceled.
AVC: The show has gone through its share of delays and retooling. What was going on with it before, and what was done to work it out?
ED: We shot the first pilot, Joss did, in sort of a noir style, and I think first and foremost,Fox didnât like that feel. So there were a few things they wanted different, and they wanted the story to unfold in different ways. It was a big deal for Fox, and they have a lot invested in the show, so absolutely their opinion matters. So we retooled it, and instead of doing a cut-and-paste job with the pilot and doing reshoots, Joss just sort of went, âI have an idea that I think that youâre looking for, so let me just reshoot a new pilot.â
AVC: It isnât like Joss is some new kid on the block, though. He has a lot of shows under his belt, and heâs got this large cult following. Is it frustrating when you get that kind of feedback?
ED: Honestly, yes. I understand it from a business perspective, and from Foxâs view, but at the same time, weâve now done 13 episodes, and people have said that the show took off once they finally realized that Joss is best off left alone to do his thing. That happens around episode sixâsix through 13 are just extraordinary. I love one, two, three, four, and five, but Jossâ first script that he did after the pilot is number six, which is called âMan On The Street,â and it is just unbelievable. From that point on, the world unfolds in Jossâ way, with Jossâ speed, and itâs really remarkable.
Which would actually suck, cuz' if 1-5 were made to please the network first, they see viewers drop and ax at 6 where it turns to be a firefly'esk show.......
But I've already written it off and am not going back.

I read a post on I09 that basically sums up the problem with a lot of television. Dollhouse should be a one season series, or a mini-series, that tells the story instead of something intended to be ongoing. This is also where I think shows like Heroes, Lost, and others go wrong - they have to do all these convoluted plot twists and side stories in the name of getting the 24 episodes per season for as long as the ratings hold up. They should begin with a defined plot line and do it in the minimum number of episodes that it takes to tell the story. I'd much rather have 1 or two great seasons of a show than 3-4 mediocre ones.
In this way, I think 24 has a great formula. You know that the story will be told in the season. You may be left hanging as to what is going to happen next season, but the current story gets wrapped at least. I don't watch 24 any more because it is essentially the same show over and over again, but would love to see Heroes use that same device and tell new stories with at least some new characters each season.
FYI, Lost has had a defined end season for quite some time. The overall timeline has been arc'd since the beginning. The final season will be 2010. I think this is one of the reasons I like lost. I know it's coming to an end and as much as I can't wait to get there, I'm enjoying it as long as possible.
I'm a bit confused. If this is Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, why isn't he the guy doing the first episodes? That sounds almost like Fox got way to heavy handed.
Overall, I've enjoyed it, but if it could come up with an even better run, then I'll be happy to stick with it. The good news is it's tearing up Hulu and that has to be something Fox is noticing.
I read this morning on I09 that Dollhouse picked up 30% more viewers when the time shifting statistics came in. The Sarah Connor Chronicles picked up something like 36% - the most for any show on the air. The thought is that if this sort of thing continues, it could easily be enough to keep both on the air.
OK, so I RTFA. It seems timeshifting only gets counted for the next three days from showing. That means nearly a 1/3rd of the audience didn't watch it Friday night, but there is a need for it. Sounds to me like they picked the wrong night to broadcast.

I think Joss gets this and it's why his next show will be Internet based. One of the few that actually gets it.
I have to say this was one of the best episodes so far. It really kept me guessing. I can't wait to see next weeks episode.

Episode 6 is the first episode where they give Joss full control. I read some reviews on IO9 and everyone feels the way I do. This was really a whole new level. Now let's hope it doesn't pitter out.

Sorry, I've not watched it since episode 4 or so. I have them, and I intend to watch them - I just haven't yet. I think I've been waiting for the cancellation, so I'd at least know if it ended on a semi-resolved note. If so, I'd finish up what they'd made.
I should just start watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. By all accounts it was an enjoyable show, and Whedon had several years to do what he wanted.
