    Kevin Smith films his next movie in Pittsburgh. BTW Dogma was filmed here as well! 🙂

    PITTSBURGH - Kevin Smith, who has written, directed and acted in several films, including the comedies "Clerks" and "Chasing Amy," said he plans to shoot another comedy in Pittsburgh starting in January.

    Smith wrote on the blog viewaskew.com that he would film "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" in Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Sunday. Smith filmed "Dogma" in the city in 1998.

    Smith said that he may announce the film's cast in the next two weeks, and that he expected filming to take about 40 days.

    He said he expected the film to be released next fall.

    I was an extra on 3 movies here. One you can actually see me real fast. Doc and I did one of those together for some kicks. I was not seen at all but Doc is on camera. I won't say what movie. 🙂

    I am tempted to contact the lady who handles extras here and see if I can do it. I really think I will. 🙂

    Jason Mewes (Jay) met a girl at Eides comics in downtown Pittsburgh while filming Dogma. They were together for a year or 2, but split up because they were both addicts and they enabled each other. 🙁

    Oh, and the movie was a mini-series called, "The Fire Next Time' starring Craig T. Nelson. I still have about 10-12 seconds of that movie in an mpeg where I'm wondering around as an "American refugee". No make-up or costume necessary!

    That one you were in with Harry Morgan & Walter Matthau was cool. I couldn't stand to watch the actual movies, but the sets were great in the scenes you were in.

    The Morgan movie was titles "Cobbs Law" when it was being filmed but I think it was renamed to "In her Defense" I only seen parts of it. That took two days to shoot the one scene and it was not long from what I remember. Basically it was a LOT of sitting around for $40/day 🙂

    Weird thing is I have not seen any of the movies except "Past Away" and I think I am seen really fast in that one.

    Doc you have to send me that mpeg some time 🙂

    Hell, I'll admit being jealous of Mewes, at least SOME. Dude works for a month or so every few years, makes great coin (you KNOW Smith hooks him up), and gets to bang Hollywood cuties, all for being a crazy stoner.

    I can't fathom how you could wait around for 8-10 hours to do something that would make so little difference in your life.

    Hell I get pissed waiting 5 mins to get through drivethrus.

    I used the extra money to buy a pair of RIGHTEOUS front-section seats to a great all-day blues concert. . . that I totally didn't go to. 🙁

    I enjoyed the experience. I got a glimpse behind-the-curtains to see what goes on in the making of a movie, overheard stories that the oh-so "professional" extras had from other movies they'd done (apparently, James Woods is a very nice guy), and I got to wander around old near-condemned buildings without rent-a-cops chasing me off 🙂

    I don't regret it, but I never did it again.

    Heh, I found it at the Blockbuster down here, in VHS, around '99. It was the one and only time I got my old Hauppauge TV card to capture in 640x480. I even used a version of Videowave software to combine the clips and added the movie intro and title music to the beginning. Even with all that, it's still a just capture from a rental tape 🙁

    LMAO, this just reminded me that I have Paladin and his cousin starring in Star Trek along with some Amiga special effects. I forgot all about that. Wonder how hard that would be to rip off tape and upload to YouTube 😉

    Larry King was there one day. Larry's daughter I think got married in Pittsburgh or something and he was there visiting Harry or Walter, unsure 🙂

    It was not bad. I had nothing else going on back then 🙂

    Besides Lexx, back then I was not making shit for money so $40 was as good as working at McDonalds or something for $3.24/hour all day and most of the time was sitting around reading, doing home work etc... Remember this was 17+ years ago man.
