The only forum contest I have ever seen was a $50 to the top poster of the month deal. One of my old haunts was dieing and that really helped picked things up. It wasn't mearly post count but actual content of the posts that was counted.
Since this is 'gamers radio' maybe you can do something with whoever holds the most arcade awards after a specified time. Or who can find the most cool games to add to the arcade.
An 'easter egg' hunt do riddles or something and hide the answers on the site....or if its easy enough to upload little blurbs to the station give clues there.
A recruiter drive...who ever can bring the most new people in a specific period of time that actually post more than 5 times.
MS paint contests.....no photoshop!!! bust out ya mspaint skilllz - Things where people get to show off their creativity are just as much fun for the loosers and the weeiners.
uh, Home movie contests.....

as for the site and the community I really like it here, I can't think of anything at the moment.
I was looking and I didn't see a section for it. Maybe just a sticky or something where people could just toss out music ideas that the programmers could look at and see if they want to throw it on the playlists. Not a request line or anything but just suggestions. I used to do a punk radio show at my university and I was always glad to have suggestions of stuff to play or new bands to check out.
I will say though that I have been very pleased with what I have heard so far.
Rambo, I always assumed everyone would put it in the music section. I use to have a suggestion forum seperate from the music, but I removed it. I added this to the description of the Music Forum.
Everything under the sun, as long as it is music related. From the latest bands, to great Indie artists and Gamers Radio GR1 Heavy Metal and GR2 Punk Rock including requests for music on the station.
Though if your trying to keep it all ages friendly I can see your hesitation, I'm pretty sure anyone who is going to complain about it though would also whine about 'graphic violence' in video games and not be here anyway.
The thing I see about this is equal representation. I am suprised at how many women listen to the station and send feedback. In fact, I have received as much feedback from women as men.

Atomm, remember when I asked about the instant messenger that is forum based? I'll bring that up again.
For those that don't know there is a module that is like an IM application but you don't need to DL anything, it's not a shout box either, but like an open messenger that any one who is on the forums can BS real time in this IM module.
I would just like to add that I have nothing against Paladin or nudity. Theres nothing I like more than to look at a nice hard body with big hooters all glistering with sweat and 😱 😱 😱 oh I need to go.

As for equal representation as nice as it would be I know its not gonna happen. There would be hottie of the week and hunk of the month - just as it is on every other site that has attempted to be 'equal'. The biggest hurdle I think your gonna run into atomm is finding someone to locate the hunks of the month. I'd volunteer but my residence on this board is too on again off again to say I can do something.
I for one don't mind if it isn't equal. Heck I don't mind if all ya put up is a hottie of the whatever, it would be nice to have guys too though; I'd be lookin at both. I admire you for your wishing to be equal 🙂

Oh yeah and a serious recommendation - either a pop up when there is a pm, or the email notification have the subject 'a new pm has arrived'.
Since this place has been picking up I don't really read through all my email notifications anymore so if the subject line said something to the effect there was a pm it would be nice, as I am a total master of the obvious and missed the '1 new message' on the top right of the screen.
and there was only 1 😡 ....I need more to contrast/compare the amount of said dynamite.

I get a popup when I get a new message. Check under here to see what your setting is.
My Controls (top of the page right side below the GR banner) --->Options - Board Settings (most of the way down on the left side) -----> "Do you wish to get a board notification when you get a new personal message?" ----> Yes
That should give you a popup. But I'll check from the admin side as well.
Do you have a popupblocker in place? - that might be blocking them.

Im pretty sure I have all notifications I can possibly have turned on here. I do have teh xp pop up blocker dealy-bob but it tells me there is a pop up lol - thats how I noticed pm's on other boards. I'll double check my settings though.

Atomm what is the "forum' application we use? Monday I can see if I can find that module, but as I recall the module needs to match the type of forum used.
Yea Duck, it needs to be Invision or IPB for short. I will go through the mods on the site owners forum and see if I can find anything like that. I know PHPBB2 had it, but I'm not so sure about this new software.
